In the weeks leading up to E3 2015, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer promised that Microsoft would be committed to PC gaming moving forward, and so it was no surprise that he showed up during the first ever PC Gaming Show at E3. While the PC Gaming Show at E3 was largely considered a bust, two of the biggest highlights came from the Head of Xbox, one of which involved the recently revealed Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

Initially announced as an Xbox One exclusive, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was later confirmed by Phil Spencer at the PC Gaming Show to be coming to PC with the bonus of being playable at 4K resolution. With the Xbox One version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition coming August 25th, many assumed that the PC version would be available on the same day. Unfortunately, for PC Gears of War fans, that does not appear to be the case.

Speaking to an inquiring fan on Twitter, Spencer stated, "Gears on Win10 is later than Xbox One version." How much later was not confirmed by Spencer in his Tweet, but hopefully it will be available by the end of the year.

While some gamers may be disappointed that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is coming later to PCs, it's still better than the game never releasing for the platform at all. It also goes to show that Microsoft is indeed working to bring more high quality games to the PC platform, even if they're still keeping their biggest exclusives, such as Halo 5: Guardians and Gears of War 4, completely exclusive to Xbox One for now.

With Windows 10, Microsoft looks to really be making an effort to bolster their PC gaming lineup. Besides Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Windows 10 will feature Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition, the PC debut of the rebooted Killer Instinct, and a Windows 10 version of League of Legends.

Furthermore, Windows 10 will also offer Xbox One game streaming capabilities. This means that if a PC gamer with Windows 10 has Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One come its release on August 25th, they would technically be able to stream the game to their PC and play it in that fashion. Of course, this would mean that the game would lack the PC exclusive bells and whistles, such as the 4K resolution upgrade, but it's something.

PC gamers that were looking forward to jumping back into the original Gears of War adventure come August 25th will have to wait a little longer than Xbox One owners. It has yet to be confirmed how much longer, but one would imagine that it couldn't be that considerable of a wait, considering the PC version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was basically the biggest announcement of the entire PC Gaming Show at E3.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be available on August 25th for Xbox One, with the PC version of the game coming at a later, unannounced date.
