During Microsoft's E3 press conference, game developer The Coalition reveals brand new gameplay for Gears of War 4, showing some co-op action from the campaign mode.

As many gaming fans expected, Gears of War 4 made an appearance during Microsoft's E3 press conference, and The Coalition's studio head Rod Fergusson took the stage with Laura Bailey, the voice actress for the game's character Kait Diaz, to show off some co-op gameplay for the title's campaign in a playthrough. If the demo is any indication of what the final version of Gears of War 4's story mode is going to be like, then fans should rest easy knowing that the title is in good hands.

The Coalition's co-op demo for Gears of War 4 featured plenty of classic elements from the third-person shooter franchise with the Lancer's chainsaw melee executions getting a spotlight, using cover during gunfights still being imperative, and holding off hordes of enemies with the help of a friend's firepower being a mainstay. Of course, the game seems to have received a bounty of new features, such as more gruesome up close and personal kills like the knife execution and an industrialized gun that fires circular saw blades.

As seen in the footage below, Gears of War 4's main character JD, the son of Marcus Fenix, tears through enemies at a rapid pace with his cohorts in Kait Diaz and Delmont "Del" Walker. The soldiers use teamwork to flip over a trebuchet of sorts to take out a turret on the other side of a ravine, which leads them to closer into the heart of the Swarm. Instead of spoiling everything, though, it's best for fans to check out the video for themselves.

While the materials shown for Gears of War 4 looks polished and well put together, The Coalition surely has plenty more details to reveal as the year rolls on, as the game's release date is set for later this fall. With this being the case, we should expect to find out additional information about the story, as well as its multiplayer components.

Of course, the Gears franchise has been a bedrock series for Microsoft ever since it debuted on the Xbox 360, so the title ought to sell a ridiculous amount of copies once it officially goes on sale. However, some fans are of the opinion that the fourth installment might be even better if it eschewed its Xbox One exclusive status, and not only became available on PC, but also PS4. Nevertheless, it seems as if the franchise is sticking with Microsoft consoles and Windows 10 supported systems, as Gears of War 4 is staying the course when it comes to its release through expected avenues.
