Not great news for Epic Games as a build of their highly anticipated game, Gears of War 3, has started popping up on torrent sites. The build itself isn't playable unless you happen to possess a modded console or an Xbox 360 dev kit but there's already footage of the single player campaign hitting YouTube already.

Leaked games aren't something particular new; in fact, a build of Crysis 2 leaked a few weeks before actual shipping. High profile games like Gears of War 3 are usually the target of those who yearn to get their hands on the product as soon as possible rather than wait like the rest of us. It's a very unfortunate set of circumstances, especially for a title so highly anticipated, but the leak shouldn't have any direct impact on the actual sales of the full retail game, and is probably more of an annoyance for Epic than anything else.

Below, you can find the proof of the leak in the form of the unseen thief who is playing the game on a modded Xbox 360 console. The footage doesn't spoil anything, but the player is playing Beast Mode and you can tell that certain game assets haven't been finalized yet. But still, if you don't want your Gears of War 3 experience to be ruined, you don't have to watch it.

It is unfortunate to see Epic Games be the victim of a content leak, but if fans care about the franchise, they will have no problems shelling out their hard-earned money to support the company, even just for the multiplayer (which won Game Rant's E3 2011 Awards in that category). Hopefully this simply works to offer more press for the game. Should you find the two month wait still excruciating, don't forget to check out the Horde 2.0 briefing or what kind of content unlocks you get if you played Gears 1 and Gears 2.

If any more news regarding the leak occurs, stay tuned to Game Rant, where we will be reporting as it comes in.

Gears of War 3 releases on September 20, 2011 for Xbox 360.
