Despite only being announced this past week, the Gears of War 3 team has already leaked the potential box art for the new game:

Umm. Now, I’m in school for graphic design, but you don’t need a college degree to tell that this is strangely underwhelming. In fact, it looks kind of like the unintentionally revealed Xbox 360 dashboard advertisement, and it looks even more like the team was trying to slap something together ASAP after the game was accidentally revealed:
Considering the rumors floating around about all the impressive new features slated for this game, like underwater combat and mech suits, you’d think the in-house design team would have been able to come up with something a little bit more creative with the new material. Oh, well. Mother always said not to judge a book by its cover.

[Update: As pointed out in the comments, the box art is clearly marked "Artwork Not Final". So we can assume there will be new box art that is likely similar to prior releases as Gears of War 3 approaches release.]

The first two gears of war box arts were the Gears Logo then several months later they released the actual box art. The box art clearly says ''Artwork Not Final''.

I agree i think they slapped something together real quick. This is a typical ploy for epic though. I remember that not too long ago they started a rumor saying the new gears game wouldn't be available until the next gen consoles were released in order to keep some of the masses at bay. Overall Epic puts way to much effort in the game to have a shifty cover like this.
Yea, I agree this is just some last minute thing slapped together to give us something to look at. I remember a rumor that popped up not too long ago that gears 3 would not be coming out until the next gen consoles were released. This like that rumor is just to keep those prying eyes away.
when the first gears was out for the x-box 360 it was a head turner every one had wanted to take a peice of the war and then bite off more in it we found out about the home of marcus's family and that his family was the key to the tunnels. in the second we found out that the locust were still alive and kicking and that they were fighting like hell to take out all of us but we never found out what their real intentions were in the end of the second we found out that marcus's father was alive and living were it doesn't specify but an important fact was found out that the lambent got their explosive personality from immulsion but that was then and now we found out that the lambent and the locust are enemys now we face extinction yet again from the locust and are now using every availiable soldier for the war and now we are waiting for a new story a new path and a new fight and now we call on every body not just one or two but every one and now we face extinction yet again and are fighting with every thing we have the only question left is will we lay down like dogs or atack and stand our ground for the final battle
