New ‘Fuse’ Screenshots From Insomniac Games: Exotic Guns & Locales

2 years ago by

If there’s one thing Insomniac Games is best known for, it’s weaponry. Throughout the years, they’ve given lovable Lombaxes and disease infected soldiers a wide – and creative – arsenal of killing tools, ranging from disco ball grenades to the vomit educing Mutator from Resistance 3. While weaponry is a key component in Fuse, Insomniac’s latest title, the studio also has one more key component to show off: environments.

Insomniac recently updated the Fuse website, bringing with it a huge gallery of screenshots. These new images not only show off the exotic weapons players will have access to throughout the game, but also the myriad of different settings Insomniac has constructed. Adding to the jungle and factory-esque environments are Fuse snow levels, which have been revealed for the first time through these screenshots.

The Fuse website has also received a significant overhaul, which includes a wide variety of options. There are links to trailer and screenshots galleries, as well as the option to pre-order Fuse through the official website (the game releases in March 2013). Plus, a link to the game’s official forums – where fans can discuss Insomniac’s upcoming adventure.

Since its initial reveal, Fuse has been surrounded by controversy. The game was originally unveiled as Overstrike, and featured an art style more in line with a Dreamworks animated film than the realistic military approach portrayed today. Though there is still skepticism from the community, the more I see of Fuse the more excited I become. Insomniac promises that the game still retains a humorous charm, albeit with more of an emphasis on dry wit than the all out zaniness of Overstrike.

The screenshots look gorgeous – and if the gameplay is as satisfying as Resistance 3 (read our review) then there should be nothing to worry about.

Plus that arc gun looks like an absolute blast. No pun intended. Okay maybe a little.

Fuse releases in March 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

  1. While I preferred the old art-style, this does look really good. I hope this still has the same seriousness / sense of humor that Insomniac games have.

  2. I am hopeful for this game. I ended up really liking Binary Domain and this game reminds me of that.

  3. Can’t wait for this game!
Really like the co-op(maybe something like Borderlands?)
