Friday the 13th is undoubtedly a very iconic horror franchise. Many fans were worried that the show being a prequel would mean that there wouldn't be an adult Jason Voorhees, but it appears this may not be the case.

The Friday the 13th franchise often centers on a slasher killer who ends up murdering the unlucky people who venture off into his or her domain. Jason Voorhees is the franchise's supernatural killer and similar to Halloween's Michael Myers, he is a killer who stalks his victims with practical tools.

Friday the 13th prequel series showrunner Bryan Fuller discussed which rights they have in terms of what they can or can't show as creators. “A24 and Marc Toberoff, who is Victor Miller’s lawyer, have beautifully and excruciatingly assembled all the Friday the 13th rights. As a streaming series, we have the rights to do everything underneath the Friday the 13th umbrella,” Fuller said to Fangoria. “The movie rights are a completely different thing. They are tied up at New Line and are super, super messy and probably won’t be untangled anytime soon, but as far as us chickens in the television industry, uh, roost, we have access to anything and everything that Friday the 13th has done up until this point.”

Jason's power is often hinted at coming from the bottom of Camp Crystal Lake, and the creators leaned more into the supernatural origins with each passing sequel. Many may not know, but Jason's mother was the main killer in the first Friday the 13th film. Following the accident where Jason drowned as a camper, his mother snapped and was bent on revenge, killing and chasing the campers responsible for being careless enough to let her child drown. She was of course stopped and then Jason took over as the franchise's lead.

Since Fuller's Friday the 13th series is a prequel, it's unclear how much of Jason will be seen and a previous report about there being no "hockey mask" worried the fans hoping to see the Jason they're familiar with. Fortunately, the series' showrunner has clarified the misconceptions, which should hopefully put fans at ease.

Fuller also goes on to clarify that they won't have Jason without the hockey mask and vice versa. Whether Jason is a full-blown adult or not is a separate conversation. However, fans should expect to see plenty of violence in the Friday the 13th series, which is what makes the slasher villain iconic.

The Friday the 13th prequel series is in development for Peacock.
