Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 has been themed around Hunters, with Jonsey recruiting hunters from various realms to help keep players within the loop. This has led to many fan-favorite cosmetics, including The Mandalorian and the Child, God of War's Kratos, Halo's Master Chief, The Walking Dead's Michonne and Daryl Dixon, The Terminator's T-800 and Sarah Connor, and G.I Joe's Snake Eyes. Somewhat breaking from this trend is Street Fighter's Ryu and Chun-li, as neither are technically "Hunters," but the latest datamine may suggest an even bigger break.

It's not uncommon for datamines or leaks to reveal new skins before they release; nearly every single of the names above leaked online before a proper reveal. As a result, as unlikely as it seems, Family Guy's Peter Griffin may be coming to Fortnite.

First seemingly discovered by GMatrixGames, the aforementioned Street Fighter skins came with a little decryption. There has been a "FrenchFry" code name circulating for some time now, with the backbling texture for said code name being decrypted with these skins. That texture shows a TV reel of Peter Griffin reeling in pain over his knee, but perhaps more importantly, getting into a massive fight with the giant chicken. It could be that this is how Peter is a "Hunter," but some may still think it's an odd addition to Fortnite.

Indeed, fans should take this with a grain of salt; it could, in theory, be a troll by a dataminer or even by Epic Games itself. It could be a placeholder for something else entirely, or it could mean that Peter will be dropping on the battle island. Perhaps it's actually the giant chicken, but fans won't know anything for sure until Epic Games announces it or denies it.

Notably, many fans believe this is some meme or some joke; very well, it could be. What's important about this reaction is how strong it has been. At the time of this writing, the above datamine has been live for shortly over an hour. In that time, Peter Griffin has begun trending on Twitter with over 200o tweets, while Family Guy itself has hit 6000 in that time.

Even if Peter Griffin doesn't come to the battle island, fans may want to understand what's happening here. Whether it was a placeholder, a troll, or something legitimate, it's clear that a Peter Griffin skin in Fortnite is an interesting, if somewhat odd, proposition.

Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
