Final Fantasy 7 Remake game director Tetsuya Nomura, along with other developers of the game, express a desire to expand on side characters Biggs, Jessie, and Wedge.

Even though there is no release date in sight for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, it is still one of the most talked about and anticipated games. It seems as though every little detail that comes out gets fans talking and speculating about what exactly the final product will entail, and exactly how much it will differ from the original. Well, the game's developers have let slip another interesting tidbit about Final Fantasy 7 Remake and how it will stand apart from the original, this time in regards to the side characters Biggs, Jessie, and Wedge.

One of the goals of Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be to further explore the stories of these three side characters, who veteran players will recall are members of the AVALANCHE group. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake PlayStation Experience 2015 trailer confirmed that they would be appearing in the game, and also revealed their updated looks, but how their stories will be expanded upon remains to be seen.

This will likely come through some changes to Final Fantasy 7's plot, in order to give the trio more important roles. It also seems as though Square Enix's plan to release Final Fantasy 7 Remake as a three-part series could allow the developers to spend more time with various areas and characters in Final Fantasy 7 Remake than they did in the original, offering the perfect opportunity to expand upon these side characters as planned.

For now, one can only speculate as to how Biggs, Jessie, and Wedge will have their stories fleshed out. Perhaps the game will explore their pasts, or as stated previously, their roles could be expanded upon thanks to major plot changes. Whatever the case may be, new information on these characters will definitely be welcome, especially since fans are already plenty familiar with the main cast at this point.

It will be interesting to see if other side characters that appear later on in the Final Fantasy 7 story will receive a similar treatment as these AVALANCHE members. The developers specifically pointed to Biggs, Jessie, and Wedge as characters they'd like to explore further, but that may be because they are the only side characters to even be shown yet. So far, we've seen Midgar brought to life by Unreal Engine 4, as well as the earliest sequence of Final Fantasy 7's story, but little else. When Square Enix begins showing more of the later stages of the game, perhaps other side characters will be highlighted.

In any case, hardcore Final Fantasy 7 fans should be happy to have the opportunity to learn more about Biggs, Jessie, and Wedge. They are certainly under-developed characters, and learning more about them should serve to improve upon Final Fantasy 7 Remake's story, and help it stand out from the original game. In the meantime, those that want to see how these three characters were handled in the original game can check out the recently released PS4 port of Final Fantasy 7.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is due for release at some point in the future, and is currently considered a PlayStation 4 exclusive game.
