Ever since it was announced, fans have been anxious to hear more about Final Fantasy 16, however, it doesn't seem like there's going to be any information about the game coming soon. Today, Square Enix revealed its lineup for its presentation for Tokyo Game Show 2021, and the title is not listed.

Posted to the official Square Enix website, the company's three-day presentation features plenty of its most anticipated releases but excludes Final Fantasy 16. This is disappointing to many fans as the studio has gone silent on it following its announcement trailer that was featured during a 2020 PlayStation 5 showcase.

Square has said that fans would be hearing more about Final Fantasy 16 later in 2021, but so far, the company hasn't even mentioned the game. After being skipped in a handful of Square Enix Presentations in favor of some of the publisher's other major titles like Life is Strange: True Colors and Marvel's Avengers, fans were expecting to see FF16 at E3 2021.

Expectations were high when Square began its E3 presentation, but two unannounced games took up a majority of its runtime: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, two games that will also be featured in the company's Tokyo Game Show presentation. With FF16 skipping E3, many assumed that it was being saved for Square's TGS 2021 showcase.

Now that Square Enix has publically announced what games will be featured in their presentation, Final Fantasy fans don't know what to expect. There's definitely going to be plenty of FF content shown off, but it isn't anything surrounding the next mainline entry in the series. The Final Fantasy titles that will be featured are Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, FF Trading Card Game: Beginner's Hall, Chocobo GP, Final Fantasy 7: The First Solider, and the aforementioned Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.

There is a possibility that Final Fantasy 16 could make an appearance in some form or another, but it doesn't seem likely that Square Enix would deviate from its schedule too much, especially when taking into account that many of the games it's showing off are either already out, releasing later this year, or most likely releasing sooner than FF16. Because of Square's promise that it would provide more information on FF16 in 2021, fans are still expecting something regarding the game's development. Hopefully an update comes soon to answer some questions and provide background as to what's going on with the title.

Final Fantasy 16 is in development for PC and PS5.
