With the highly anticipated release of Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker only four months away, Square Enix has been slowly drip-feeding fans with information about the droves of new content the expansion will offer. Among the most noteworthy of the update's addition are the two new player jobs to be featured within Final Fantasy 14's newest expansion.

Endwalker brings a slew of updates to the massively popular MMORPG upon its release in November. The expansion is being touted as one of the most important to the world of Hydaelyn yet, featuring story offerings that will act as a conclusion to the current ongoing story arc which has run since the game's re-launch in 2013. New locations, dungeons, and new playable races are just a fraction of the plethora of content which will feature in the expansion.

Among the new offerings presented by Square-Enix are the two new jobs featured within the expansion, Sage and Reaper. However, a collective of fans within the Final Fantasy 14 took issue to one aspect of the Sage's reveal, later addressed by the developers. Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida spoke in a recent blog post about the issues presented by the Sage icon. Yoshida has become the public face of Final Fantasy 14, gaining significant popularity amongst the game's fans, and was quick to address fans' feedback regarding the controversial icon.

Pictured above is a comparison of the icon's old design with the newly-presented design. The original icon featured four pillars representing the four "nouliths" that make up the sage's armament, each with a hole at its apex, but the new design removes the holes. According to Yoshida, many fans complained about the natures of the icon triggering their trypophobia, or the "fear of clusters of holes," when looking at it. The Endwalker producer goes on to discuss how the change allows the team to both reduce the cluster for the more sensitive fans while allowing them to accentuate their own concept for the job's design.

Final Fantasy 14 has seen a surge in popularity in recent weeks with the game becoming a popular title for big-name streamers, in particular popular World of Warcraft streamer Asmongold. Fans of the title are quick to advertise the game's expansive free trial, allowing new players to experience the game's A Realm Reborn and Heavensward expansions up to Level 60. The rich offerings for free-to-play users combined with a surge in online presence on sites like Twitch and YouTube have even led many players of other major MMORPGs, like the aforementioned World of Warcraft, to switch to the Square Enix title. With Endwalker coming later in the year accompanied by the game's recent release on PS5, the future looks bright for Final Fantasy 14 and its legions of brave adventurers.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5 with the Endwalker expansion set to release on November 23.
