Final Fantasy 14 is probably at the height of its popularity right now and fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the Endwalker expansion in December. It was originally supposed to come out later this month on November 23, but Square Enix had recently announced that Endwalker will be delayed by two weeks and it will now launch on December 7 of this year, with early access being available from December 3.

A lot of information was shared at the latest Letter From the Producer live stream, an event where key members of the development team have an in-depth discussion on various aspects of the game. During the show, Square Enix also confirmed the release details of a new data center for Final Fantasy 14.

The data center for the Oceania region will be called Materia, and it is currently scheduled to launch in February 2022. The Tweet from the official English account of Final Fantasy 14 also confirms that all worlds in the Materia data center will be treated as New Worlds. As such, fans will be able to avail free world transfer services in addition to some other bonuses. This most probably includes some gil along with bonus XP for newly created characters up until a certain level.

Fans have been asking for a new data center for Final Fantasy 14 in the Oceania region for a long time. Back in May, the development team had finally confirmed that it was working on this request, and had hoped to bring it to fruition by Patch 6.1, which unfortunately releases after the launch of the Endwalker expansion.

Regardless, it is great news for all fans from the Oceania region who previously had to play on servers based in other nations. Its launch would also help in alleviating the strain on these servers, as Final Fantasy 14 has recently been suffering through massive congestion issues, which often result in long queue times.

Even before the recent boom in player count, buying a house in Final Fantasy 14 has always been a massive undertaking. As a result, a new lottery system will be implemented and players will no longer have to wait for hours right outside their desired housing plot. This system will be introduced for the new district Empyreum which is located in Ishgard. While players can take a tour of the area when Endwalker launches in Patch 6.0, plots will only be available for purchase in Patch 6.1.

Final Fantasy 14 is now available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
