In the new expansion for Final Fantasy 14 called Endwalker, players can choose from two new classes on top of the old classes already available. The Sage Class in FF14 is one of these classes, but players will have to unlock the Sage class first before leveling it.

The Sage Class in FF14

The Sage class is a new healing class for Final Fantasy 14. Not only do they get to wield guns, but players can use these healers to shield other party members. Sages can also use Kardion, which heals a chosen party member when the Sage is dealing damage to enemies. Players don't have to complete the story so far up to Endwalker, but they do have to be level 70 and own the expansion in order to become a Sage.

Sages all come from the nation of Sharlayan, which is a land all about learning. The Sages are healers and magic users that rely on wisdom to fuel their magic, and the Sages are dedicated to helping better the world through their actions. The Sage is one of two new classes in Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker, and it is the only one of those two that is a healing class.

Unlocking the Sage Job in FF14

In the city Limsa Lominsa, players will need to start the quest chain called Sage's Path. Players can grab this from the NPC labeled Sharlayan Maiden. Her name is Lalah Jinjahl, and she wants the player to be her guide and bodyguard.

After chatting with this Final Fantasy 14 NPC, players will have to head east to meet her again outside of the Zephyr Gate to continue the quest. She is tracking down fugitives from her homeland that committed murder, and players will have to help her track down all three of them. After the cutscene plays where players are presented with a Job stone, a prompt will pop up on the screen; say "Yes" to swearing to be a Sage.

After this, the Sage Job will be unlocked and players can start using this new class at level 70 with a level cap of 90. Part of the oath of becoming a Sage is "helping others" or "saving others," and players will most likely have a lot of that to do in the future for Sage Class Quests. Make sure to equip the new weapon associated with the new Job, which is the Stonegold Milpreve.

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
