One of the most anticipated indie games this year is without a doubt Fez. The game's creator Phil Fish, and the actual title, were featured prominently in the recent Indie Game: The Movie alongside the likes of Edmund McMillan, Tommy Refenes (Super Meat Boy) and Jonathan Blow (Braid).

The film premiered at Sundance and was met with loads of praise from the industry — it even took home an award from the big show. Yes, it's been a long time coming for impatient gamers, but the indie game Fez will finally be hitting Xbox Live Arcade in mid April.

The news broke via Polytron Corporation in the form of a giant, psychedelic, potentially seizure-enducing flashing sign. Mark your calendars, because the official release date for Fez is Friday the 13th, April 2012. Despite the fact that the game is coming on a Friday, and a superstitious Friday at that, gamers should be delighted to learn that the game will debut for a very modest 800 Microsoft Points. Fez will come virtually packaged with over 150 different levels, so the $10 price point is extremely reasonable.

For those not following the development of Fez, fans have been waiting for this game for over five years — that's how long the game's developer, Phil Fish, has been working to perfect the thing. Fez stars a cute little pixelated protagonist who wears a (you guessed it) fez hat, with his objective being to conquer each side-scrolling level by collecting cubes and shifting the world to gain an entirely new perspective on obstacles. The downloadable title aims to be one of the most unique/challenging puzzle games ever, and based on hands-on reports and awards the game has actually won, nobody should be disappointed.

Fez will be available on the Xbox Live Arcade on April 13th for 800 MS Points ($10).
