Whether Ubisoft wanted it or not, one of their own employees has mentioned that Far Cry 3 is in development.
Ubisoft’s Kevin Shortt was in an interview with the UK-based magazine OPM about the Avatar videogame, and somewhere along the interview they randomly asked him if he was working on Far Cry 3. His response:
“No I’m not, but I know the team are and what I’ve seen looks pretty exciting.”
Ubisoft has yet to comment, but there’s not really a point either way: most people were already assuming a Far Cry 3 was being made, and the confirmation didn’t come as too much of a surprise – even if it wasn’t supposed to be announced yet.
In Mr. Shortt’s defense, at least he didn’t just randomly tweet about it on twitter – like the Mario Guy.

I havn’t been able to stop playing FarCry2 yet. One of the best game environments I’ve ever seen. I hope they keep the game in a similar style. Being and african diamond smuggler/hitman was pretty f-ing sweet.

I was in the 2nd map of Far Cry2, I was killed during a massive explosion, next thing the game won’t load beyond that point and my saved game was corrupt,,,
