With just days left until the release of Fallout 4, Bethesda releases the official Pip-Boy app for Android devices on the Google Play app marketplace.

Android devices owners are in for a special treat today, as Bethesda has gone ahead and released the official Fallout 4 Pip-Boy app in advance of Fallout 4. Though the app is planned to be released on iOS, Windows, and Android devices, it would appear the Android version has been posted first.

The app is designed to work in combination with a gamer's playthrough of Fallout 4, allowing players to control their in-game Pip-Boy, radio, inventory, and more. It also includes a mini-game called Atomic Command, and the app can be used to view a player's stats even when they're away from their game system of choice. Best of all, the app coordinates with all three versions of the game, so PC, PS4, and Xbox One gamers will all be able to take full advantage of this app.

While all Fallout 4 players will be able to enjoy the functionality of the Pip-Boy app, those who purchased the Pip-Boy Edition of Fallout 4 will especially enjoy it. The app is designed to emulate the appearance of an in-game Pip-Boy screen, creating the finishing touch of the realistic-looking Pip-Boy replica. While the game itself won't release until next week, gamers can get the app now and start familiarizing themselves with its features and functionality.

Fallout 4 is setting itself to be the biggest hit of the holiday season this year. With multiple Fallout apps available for most mobile devices, as well as tons of merchandising tie-ins, like Nuka Cola Quantum and Fallout Beer, Bethesda is well-poised to make back its investment into the game and then some. Thankfully, the more creative forms of merchandise have kept the wide array of products from feeling like a cheap attempt to cash in on the popularity of the game.

While gamers may not be running to the nearest Best Buy to secure their own pair of Vault Boy socks, many gamers can't help but be charmed by the real-life replicas of in-game items that have been iconic staples of the series since its inception. The lightning-fast speed with which the Pip-Boy Edition of Fallout 4 has sold out every time it's gone on sale is proof of this. Bethesda has also been wise in providing Fallout apps for free for gamers to enjoy leading up to the release of Fallout 4, keeping the hype fresh in everyone's minds, and setting themselves apart from microtransaction-laden apps.

The Fallout Pip-Boy App is now available for Android 4.0+ systems on Google Play. Fallout 4 releases on November 10 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
