The highly-anticipated Harry Potter reunion special on HBO Max, which honors the film franchise's 20th anniversary, saw the superstar trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint come together with their fellow co-stars to reminisce on the good times they had on set. While there were a lot of fun and heartwarming moments, there were also a few unexpected revelations given by the cast that managed to catch fans off-guard.

One such revelation in the Harry Potter reunion special comes from Watson, who shared a rather emotional sit-down with Grint. During their segment, the actors admitted that they both considered leaving the Harry Potter series at one point or another due to their struggles with fame, especially around the time of the fifth film, Order of the Phoenix. That was surprising enough, but as the conversation went on, Grint went on to reveal his true feelings about the cast, saying that they're a family and that they will always be a part of each other's lives.

He then hugged Watson and said "I love you" to her before both of them quickly clarified to the camera that he meant that "as friends" only. In a recent interview with Vogue UK, Watson said she was taken aback by Grint's comments, but in a good way. She explained that he's the type of person to really mean what he says, so it meant a lot to her when he called her family.

She also added that she wasn't expecting that Grint would be so vulnerable and open with his feelings, especially on camera. While both actors also had conversations with Radcliffe, Watson and Grint's conversation was certainly one of the most memorable parts of the entire program. According to Watson, it was the most emotional part of making the Harry Potter reunion special.

Vogue went on to ask Watson whether the three of them kept in touch. She said that both Radcliffe and Grint hate WhatsApp and their phones in general, so they don't often communicate via digital means. Still, despite not being in a group chat, Watson says they speak individually with one another on occasion. For fans, it's comforting to know that the three of them are not only friends on screen, but friends in real life as well.
