Scarlet Witch is undoubtedly one of the MCU's most popular characters. Her fanbase and that of actress Elizabeth Olsen seem to grow stronger and stronger. Even after a villainous turn in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans are clamoring for more Scarlet Witch, and Kevin Feige suggested they may get their wish.Olsen's appearance in Doctor Strange 2 was slightly controversial. Some felt that Wanda's character development was regressive and reversed her WandaVision character arc, while others felt that her antagonistic role fit the character, who has oscillated between hero and villain and anti-hero and everything in between. Most seem to agree that the fault does not lie with Olsen, however, and view her performance as excellent. By the end of Doctor Strange 2, Scarlet Witch seemingly died to redeem herself, but a few did not see this as conclusive, nor did they feel her character was finished.RELATED: How Multiverse of Madness Sets Up a Possible WandaVision Season 2 Feige has made comments indicating that hope is not lost for the return of Wanda Maximoff. During an interview with Variety, Feige said, “I don’t know that we saw her under rubble?” referring to Wanda bringing down Mount Wundagore in Doctor Strange 2's climax. He further said, “There really is so much more to explore. We still haven’t touched on many of her core storylines from the comics.”

While he doesn't explicitly confirm that Wanda will be back, his comments strongly indicate that the studio is not done with her character. Olsen has spoken on the Scarlet Witch rumors, stating that while she would love to return, she has not been "told anything." Olsen stated that if a return is happening, she has yet to be contacted, but that the studio is so secretive, she knows nothing about her future as the character.

Olsen has also defended the character from statements that the Scarlet Witch is a villain. While she commits many horrible acts during the course of Multiverse of Madness, Olsen says that she believes Wanda is simply "processing big emotions" and "learns a lesson" in the end. These comments could also indicate that the character may return to right her wrongs in future installments. If she learned a lesson, there will likely be some form of atonement for her.

And, of course, there remains the matter of the Scarlet Witch's children, Tommy and Billy Maximoff, who are key members of the Young Avengers. The characters have yet to be brought back into the mainline MCU, however, and the Scarlet Witch will likely at least be mentioned when they do. The Young Avengers also have a storyline, titled "Children's Crusade," where they search for a presumed-dead Wanda Maximoff, and it's possible that that could be adapted to the screen should the Scarlet Witch return.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now available on Disney Plus.
