One of my favorite games ever for the PC is Morrowind which helped push the Elder Scrolls series into the hands of the growing mainstream video game audience. This was solidified by the multi-award winning sequel, Oblivion, which while simplifying the game and removing some features, added beautiful graphics and a quality gaming experience.

After the success of Oblivion, the only question is when's the next one coming out? Well, according to a blurb on the Waterstones website for the upcoming Greg Keyes novel The Elder Scrolls: Infernal City, we may have some hints on what the next game may be about.

According to Kotaku, the site featured the following quote which seemingly has been changed since then.

"A novel that takes places forty-five years after the Oblivion Crisis, which is the story of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion game and the expansion pack Shivering Isles. It partly bridges the gap for the next game, which is set 200 years after the Oblivion crisis."

Will that be the setting of the next Elder Scrolls game?

oblivion the infernal city

There's still a question about whether or not the next game will be an MMO (please don't be), but I want another Oblivion style with one important chance... the addition of co-op? I think I'd be satisfied for life if I could play a new Morrowind/Oblivion with a friend in those vast worlds. Well, that and improved combat - the AI is ridiculous when it comes to range combat, but that's neither here nor there.

What do you think of this news and what do you want from the next Elder Scrolls title?
