Skyrim Trailers Combat Animations Story

Nothing is more frustrating than seeing a high quality game fail to get the attention it deserves. Luckily, that is not the case with Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. So while fans of RPG grinding and dragon-slaying eagerly await the game that will likely consume the rest of their calendar year, it’s important to realize that the game won’t just be relying on inventory and leveling to deliver a satisfying experience. The newest trailer for Skyrim give a look at the people and places of the game world, along with some devastating combat executions.

A role-playing game is only as good as the roles that can be played, and Skyrim isn’t lacking in that department. For starters, being given the title of ‘Dragonborn,’ and possessed of the abilities to master weapons, magic and dragonshouts is bringing more dreams to life than we care to admit. Oh, and did we mention you can be a vampire?

But all joking aside, the story being told is as large as the game’s world itself. We’re over 50 hours into the game just to review it, so there is obviously no shortage of interesting characters and races to get familiar with, and more than a few breathtaking environments. They’re all here in the latest trailer, ‘Reaching New Heights: The World of Skyrim.’

Check it out now:

We got to see exactly how the animations were captured in the latest Skyrim making-of video, but at this point we’ll take every single second of gameplay footage we can get our hands on. The sword and sorcery combat of Skyrim is something we’ve seen plenty of, but being given the ability to slay giants, dragons, and monsters of all shapes and sizes is something that doesn’t get old.

It was made perfectly clear that Bethesda wants every player to feel empowered and powerful after the release of their live-action trailer, and the game’s execution animations will be a big help. But from the newest combat trailer, it looks like Skyrim may contain an even larger array of finishing moves than Arkham City or Assassin’s Creed, but we’ll let you be the judge.

Be warned, the combat shown is from an M-rated game and isn’t recommended for the squeamish:

It’s obvious that the creatures of Skyrim won’t be the usual ones expected from other fantasy titles, since enemies of both flesh and steel abound. Considering how much precedence is being given to the story, quests and choice of the latest entry in The Elder Scrolls series, the combat has taken a back seat. Hopefully the real deal will be as slick and satisfying as it looks.

What part of Skyrim are you most looking forward to? The random encounters, or single-handedly eradicating the dragon scourge? Leave us your own plans in the comments, and expect our review soon.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be released for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 11, 2011.

  1. man I can’t wait for this game, it’s going to be epic, I know this especially well since you guys have been on it for 50 hours; also Zboz 360 lol

  2. Thats how my girl friend and I are going to fight in real life when we figure out who’s turn it is to play. XD

    • So you’re going to behead here? XD

      P.s. i lol’d a Zbox

  3. you said “XBoz” rather than “Xbox”at the end of the review.

  4. Honestly the thing I’m the most eager for is just letting my self be absorbed into this game by just going to a town or a major city and just standing there and watching the NPCs just acting like real people. I plan on playing this as soon as I get home from the middnite release, but I doubt I will even get into the story for at least 4 solid hours. LONG LIVE THE ELDER SCROLLS!!!!!!!!!

  5. “ZBoZ”*

  6. lol. Zboz. is that the Russian xbox?

  7. I rly hope the combat is better otherwise it’ll be a waste of money for me cuz I couldn’t stand it in the other games

    • The combat was fine in all the other games… It won’t be a huge step forward from Oblivion, but it will be much better. But frankly nothing was wrong with the others.

  8. That combat look truly amazing! One concern is that the hit on the golden robot kinda thing looked a bit cheap

  9. In Soviet Russia, you do not play Zboz, Zboz play you!

But in all honesty I couldn’t sleep last night… Like a child on Christmas eve, I knew it was the last time I slept before I get Skyrim

    16 hours till Skyrim!

  10. The game is so good. I went through a dungeon that is inside a mountain that turned into a mega Dwarven city, it was awesome. It also got me tons of loot. Going to buy the game in a few hours(borrowed it from work first).

  11. Zboz fixed. Glad y’all can have fun with a misspelling rather than spend time trolling over it. Skyrim brings the best out of everyone.

  12. The thing I look most forward to is the first moment I exit the starter dungeon and look out over the world for the first time. It was a special moment in Oblivion, Fallout 3, and (to a lesser extent) New Vegas.

The ability to go where-ever, and do what-ever is what I look forward to the most.

And the “zBoz” is the Chinese knock-off of the XBox… ;)

  13. I will never fast travel in this game, I will never restart back to a save point because things didn’t turn out the way I wanted. I will make realistic decisions from my own moral and not select an option just to see what happens. I will invest time and care into building my character. Skyrim will eat me alive.

    • I know what you mean. I just want to immerse myself in the world and have fun with it. :D

  14. Why play this when you have UNCHARTED???

    • Well considering that fact that uncharted is a story driven game and can beat it in a few days,,and All the elder scrolls really could take up to years(still playing morrowind and I got that back in 04) Uncharted is a AMAZING game,,But the elder scrolls destroys it.Few games can stand up to TES simply cause of it NEVER ends,,,something alot of games did,..but only THE ELDER SCROLLS Perfected…hopefully that help…oh yea dumb comment.

      • It’s called a joke, of course SYRIM is gonna be a great game, but not the better game….if you were to compare Graphics, Sound, Story, Physics, Fun, Enjoyment…..Syrim would lose in those compartments. But it’s still an addictive game.

        • Im sorry but skyrims creation enginge handles three times the amount of data that Uncharteds engine from Havok handles, you really can’t make a comparison on the games abilities.

        • You can’t call one better than the other, I don’t think you were joking there Nuk60. I personally prefer Skyrim over Uncharted.

    • Because this is better… Troll fail!!!

    • Oh, just saw the post about it being a joke…

  15. What part of Skyrim are you most looking forward to?

    Divorce.

  16. This is what I don’t get… these videos are essentially advertisements for a game. No problem, I am interested in that game.

But you seriously expect me to waste my time watching *another* advertisement before I get to watch the, er, advertisement I indicated I actually *do* want to watch? Forget it.

The great thing about the internet is all I have to do is copy the name of the video, stick it in my search engine of choice, and viola… I can find it on an alternative site that lets me see it without a pre-advertisement advertisement. That is also a waste of time but it is preferable to having an unwanted additional advertisement inflicted on me.

    • Are the ads THAT big of a deal? The time it would take for you to find another site without ads (which you won’t know until you hit play) would PROBABLY surpass the time it takes to just watch these annoying things.

The problem with gamers is we are an impatient bunch. I complain about 10-15 second respawn times.

      • agreed, I like this site and even click the ads to help support the site; one of the cooler sites this, as the authors of the articles actually take part in the discussion here in the comments section.

        just my opinion

      • “Are the ads THAT big of a deal?”

        Obviously it is for me.

“The time it would take for you to find another site without ads”

I know which sites tend to have these trailers without ads (indeed usually once you know the trailer exists, you can just go to the devs own site to find it ad-free in most cases and I assume most of us have the various dev sites bookmarked already).

Obviously you seem to not care about people taking your eyeballs for granted, you are from the “TV Generation” I suppose, but as unlike a TV show the same content is easily accessible elsewhere without the presumptuous intrusions, I am willing to spend the time to change pages.

        • You assume I treat my eyeballs like skanks? Smh, then you catorgize me… you’re funny.

  17. Seriously its going to be a good game but theres no reason to degrade another game to make it sound any better.
