Bethesda Softworks is no stranger to the Spike Video Game Awards, having won "Game of the Year" with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion four years ago. How fitting is it then that they use this year's awards ceremony to debut their next game.

Bethesda Producer Todd Howard took to the stage moments ago, preceded by a group of monks chanting, and officially announced what the world has been waiting for with the world premiere trailer of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Game Trailers has the exclusive trailer that was just revealed for the highly anticipated fifth installment to the Elder Scrolls (i.e. the best RPG) franchise. The best part of the trailer and unveiling is that with it comes the official release date of 11.11.11. Less than a year away!

What will the Skyrim do the raise the bar like Oblivion did over Morrowind. Is multiplayer a possibility? Dragons are. Will they bring back the crossbow and levitation spells of Morrowind?

So much to think about. What do you want to be able to do in Skyrim?

Skyrim takes players back to Tamriel in November 11, 2011. Check out all of the new trailers and more from the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards and follow us on Twitter @GameRant.
