Beautiful New Images From The Land of ‘Skyrim’

3 years ago by

It’s been five years since gamers last jumped into the lands of Tamriel with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and now we’re only a month away before the northern province of Skyrim welcomes us. Based 200 years after the last game and introducing dragons for the first time in the franchise, the long awaited Skyrim is easily one of the most anticipated games of the year.

Each week we learn or see something new, from 20 minutes of Skyrim gameplay footage and why Bethesda enjoys developing The Elder Scrolls on the consoles, to the game’s new race abilities and perks and the recently revealed list of Skyrim’s achievements. Today, we have another new batch of Skyrim screenshots which show off the land, people, weapons and of course, dragons.

Our last Skyrim image galleries focused on the playable races of the game and showcased the improved graphics engine with a detailed look at 200 preset faces from the character creation system. Needless to say, the vast mountainous region of Skyrim and its inhabitants look great and we can’t wait to step and and explore some of what is show in the latest screenshots from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim:

In The Elder Scrolls, it’s all about the details and each screenshot aims to emphasize what details have been tweaked and revamped in the next epic fantasy adventure from Bethesda. From an actual working alchemy table and a magical bow, to a giant statue of Azura and a cryptic torture chamber, even the dark and evil corners of Skyrim offer intriguing and enticing environments to explore.

A magical bow against a bear? That’s not fair. I hope the Frost Atronach helps out.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim releases November 11, 2011 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. What type of character will you aim to play as?

    Hey Gamerant!

You guys should do pictures differently, I have to click twice to enlarge, it loads up different pages. Maybe we can click once and it will enlarge over the screen. :)

    Just a thought.

    • Justinian

Actually, that’s probably your browser settings. Right now, mine only requires one click to enlarge. You should be able to configure it

Your wishes are being answered as we speak. We’re implementing an entirely different and much faster/easier gallery system – we tested it out on Screen Rant and the response has been great so far.

All you will have to do there is click to slide through them quickly (there will be thumbnails as well below) and click them once for a fast pop-up of enlarged version.

      • ATG

Awesome! I saw that at the Screenrant page but never even checked it out. Speaking of which, I first started coming to this site for movie news, using Screenrant. Then eventually I saw “Gaming News” and discovered Gamerant, and I’m glad I did lol

i like how the alchemical equipement actually does something now instead of sitting on a desk doing nothing.

Azura be praised. cant wait to hear what clavicus vile has to say about the (almost certain since it wasnt shown whole again) destruction of the Umbra sword in Lord of Souls.

“We Know” but WHAT do you know? lol

  • josh

They all look pretty amazing and have great detail. If you zoom in on the Alchemy pic you can see the veins in the avatar’s hand. Azura statue looks nice with her holding a moon and star. Then, ofcourse all of the magic looks beautiful. Just one more month…

11.11.11 marks the end of my social life

    • Adkon

Serious gamers don’t have social lives, brah. Its part of the code.

      • JDemaria

i gave up being a serious gamer years ago, i think im starting to have withdraws

  • yuuchun

MW3 will be way better then this.

    • Adkon

If better you mean mindless Michael Bay explosions with no real plot, than sure it’ll be “better”.

    • Kholdstare89

      You’re hilarious.

      • iDancethroughshadoWs

i pray to god he is trolling and not really that dumb

    • ablebob

can’t tell if trolling or just stupid.

    • arametzu

yea, cause i forgot toting a gun around is waaaaaaay more awsome than magic and dragons. also enjoy your enclosed maps, i’ll be exploring the open world of Skyrim! if you want to talk about MW 3 please do it on somthing related to that game

    • Akupha

I respectfully ask the following question: How can you even begin to compare Call of Duty’s Modern Warfare 3 to a Bethesda sci-fi fantasy-based game with nothing even remotely similar to that of an FPS. Your comment albeit valuable, is completely irrelevant.

      • Yuuchun

You guys are awesome. I was going to keep joking further but, your response has been to great and too akin to how I really feel.

I love Skyrim and have it pre-paid for the PC as the Collectors edition.

  • Timmy

Now THAT’S a statue, not like the puny things you get in oblivion.

    • iDancethroughshadoWs

okay. they looked pretty damn big to me.

  • Nick

I love the Dark Brotherhood note from the Black Hand. Im so pumped for this game!!

  • Guardian

Im wondering if Daedra worship is tolerated in Skyrim or perhaps this is in east Skyrim near Morrowind? If not i’d think the followers of the Nine Divines would have that Statue smashed.

    • Kholdstare89

I’d say they’re a little more lax about Daedra worshiping. In Morrowind, many of the cultists you find are either Orcs or Nords.
