The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been on store shelves for five days now, and is already more popular with Steam users than Modern Warfare 3. No wonder. Skyrim is a beautiful game with a solid story and a world that feels “alive” in every sense of the word. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is already a contender for Game of the Year; Game Rant loves the game (read our Skyrim review) despite it’s graphical glitches, and we look forward to the hours upon hours the title still has in store.
That being said, with any game of this size, there are bound to be some glitches and exploits that resourceful players will uncover. Skyrim is no different in this regard. Three new videos of Skyrim gameplay exploits have surfaced online, showing players how to gather infinite gold, infinite magic, and infinite sprinting. Check them out below.
Gold Rush!
In this video, the narrator/player explains how to get infinite gold at a specific point in the game. The exploit is not easy, but it can be done (I personally failed to get it exactly right twice before ultimately succeeding the third time). The important point to note is that players must follow the narrator’s footsteps (horsesteps!) exactly for the exploit to properly work. As mentioned in the video, it really helps to have a companion along to help carry the goods that are being exploited.
Go Speed Racer!
This video shows players how to sprint indefinitely, even with a fully drained stamina meter. The exploit is fairly useful, though the series of tasks needed to make it work might be too much for many players. It is great for making a quick escape, but has little use beyond that. Now, if someone can find an exploit for infinite shouts that make the player sprint, that will be worthwhile!
Mana from Heaven
The magic meter continually drains when magic spells are used, and can completely run dry when players use powers that are “kept up,” like flames. In this video, we discover how to exploit the system and continually cast powers without ever fully draining the magic meter. It involves using an item that passively adds magic to a character’s total, like the Novice Hood seen in the video. The exploit requires players to repeated pause the game using the quick task menu. Speaking frankly, it could get really tiresome if one had to keep doing this, especially for several minutes at a time.
Soon enough, Bethesda will release Skyrim’s next title update, which is designed to fix the texture scaling problem afflicting the Xbox 360 edition of the game (remember: don’t install Skyrim, 360 players). Naturally, the possibility exists that these gameplay exploits will be eliminated by the title update as well.
What do you think of these exploits? Have you found any other gameplay exploits in Skyrim?
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now available for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

One fun exploit got me my house in Whiterun for free. Tell Aventus you’re ready to buy the house when he’s near some sort of chest or container. As soon as you confirm the purchase with the dialogue option “Yes, I’ll take it” (or something like that), immediately cancel out of the conversation with B and open the chest. Stash all your gold in there. Aventus will still give you the key, but won’t take your gold, because you don’t have it on you. Then reclaim your gold from the chest (obviously).
40 hours in the game and I got the texture glitch really didn’t care for it since I just did the auto save in my house again and it was fix. I already knew the gold glitch but I use that to get my speech leveled up faster sell 100 books 1 at a time and boom easy level but the mana glitch really doesn’t seem to me as a glitch just a in game loop hole. The sprinting one though I will use a lot. Still better use them now before they patch everything.
Eh, exploits ruin the fun of the game, the’re only good once you get bored with the game, which for me won’t be for years.
Why would they patch it, and why would you cheat!?!?!?!?!? Its a single player game, if you want to cheat just hit ` and type in tgm for god mode, infinite health infinite mana…
My game is so broken. Its crashed to desktop 2 times. And i have a GREAT computer. Ive also ran into a texture glitch. And the game has froze about 5 times. And Ive killed a dragon and it didnt give me its soul. If bethesda doesnt fix this game soon im bringing it back.
I think your comp just sucks,
The PS3 version definitely needs to be updated. The lag is killin me. Not too mention the fact i cant complete tasks due to glitches.
i can’t go to Markarth anymore because the side quest where you break out of their mine prison is glitchy. i finished the quest but now the guards keep trying to arrest me like from the beginning of the quest, but when i say “ok,i’ll go to jail” the game leaves chat and they attack. this happens several times as each guard tries to talk to me mid-combat, i really hope bethesda fixes it…
I found that if you have a companion that can train you in something like archery then you can get the training for free. Buy the training and then go to trade supplies with them and take your gold back.
Heavy, I’m playing on PC and mine crashes randomly all the time. I’ve got a top notch rig with Evga GTX 580 superclocked and it still happens at random times. Game is stored on an Intel SSD. Hope they get it patched soon, until then keep hitting F5.

Im playing the game on Steampowered.com. I got the game from a disc, then uploaded it to steam.I think its more steams fault then the game. But the game is still glitchy by its self. I should start playing the game with the disc in. Maybe that will help? :/ Whatever. It still needs to be patched REALLY bad!
