EA Sports releases a new gameplay trailer for EA Sports UFC 2, which teases the highly anticipated UFC Women's Bantamweight rematch between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm.

For the most part, EA Sports has been secretive in regards to EA Sports UFC 2. So far, the company has only offered small glimpses at the game, all of which have been light on details. That changes now with the release of a gameplay trailer, the announcement of a release date, and some new information on what changes EA Sports UFC 2 is bringing to the table.

Firstly, fans of EA Sports UFC 2 can expect to play the game beginning March 15th. Those that pre-order the game will receive access to Bas Rutten and Kazushi Sakuraba, two legendary mixed-martial arts fighters from UFC's past. A third pre-order bonus fighter will also be included, though EA Sports is keeping the identity of this person under wraps for the time being.

Since EA Sports UFC 2 roster member CM Punk is absent from the trailer, there is a possibility that the mystery fighter in question is indeed the WWE superstar turned UFC fighter. Of course, there are many other famous mixed martial artists that EA could include as the mystery fighter instead. One possibility that springs to mind is Chuck Norris, to match last year's inclusion of Bruce Lee.

Besides highlighting fighters, the trailer has a clear focus on one of the new features in the game, which is the knockout physics system. The knockouts look even more brutal than before thanks to this physics system, though it doesn't appear the animations or graphics received any significant upgrades in EA Sports UFC 2. The trailer understandably features a lot of cover athletes Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor, though some UFC fans may take exception to EA's portrayal of Rousey in the trailer. It appears as though EA Sports is attempting to make Rousey seem like a more capable fighter than Holm, which given their history, is a questionable choice.

It's no secret that Ronda Rousey suffered the first loss of her career at the hands of Holly Holm at UFC 193, losing the UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship in the process. Some thought that since Rousey's allure largely stemmed from her undefeated status, EA Sports may consider removing her as a cover athlete.

However, EA Sports said that they will not remove Rousey as cover athlete, and is seemingly trying to raise the stock of Rousey for the purposes of the game, depicting her taking Holly Holm down with a judo throw in their rematch - a bout that has yet to actually happen in real life. Painting Rousey as dominant over Holm may irk some UFC fans, as Holm defeated Rousey decisively in their original bout.

Regardless of any ulterior motives with the trailer, it does a good job of showcasing the gameplay that players can expect from EA Sports UFC 2 when it releases in a couple of months. While the wait for the real Holm/Rousey rematch may be a long one, fans can fill the time until then by simulating the match in EA Sports UFC 2 to their heart's desire.

EA Sports UFC 2 is due for release on March 15th, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
