One of the greatest marketing tools DICE and EA have going for themselves comes from users simply sharing gameplay footage. The graphics alone have garnered the game a lot of interest and we saw that with the early Battlefield 3Â gameplay trailers, but it’s the intense battles between man and vehicle which also make for momentous skirmishes that other games simply can’t offer.
So, for gamers who capture and share video on YouTube, here’s your moment to make it worth your while using Battlefield 3.
Electronic Arts and DICE want you to share your epic Battlefield 3Â moments with use of their music. Players have been doing this since the game released on October 25th, so it’s now time to do it for a reward. Whoever sends in the best video (three winners will be selected), as voted by the DICE jury will win a pair of round-trip tickets to Stockholm, Sweden for a three night stay and a chance to hang out with the makers of the game.
Do you have what it takes to jump out of a jet into a helicopter, grab hold of the machine gun and take out an entire enemy platoon? From dodging RPGs and sniping a helicopter pilot to controlling tanks and leveling buildings, these types of unscripted moments are something that can only be found in one game â€“Â BattlefieldÂ 3â„¢.Â To celebrateÂ BattlefieldÂ 3Â and to thank the ever-growingÂ BattlefieldÂ community, EA and DICE are proud to present the â€œOnly inÂ BattlefieldÂ 3â€ Community Video Challenge.Â Gamers from the world over are invited to capture their own, personal, amazingly epicÂ BattlefieldÂ Moments and submit their killer video reel for the world to see. The player with the most impressiveÂ BattlefieldÂ Moments stands to win a trip to the historic Nordic city of Stockholm where they will visit the DICE studio and meet the gameâ€™s award-winning development team.
Starting on December 15, 2011 players can upload their HD videos to YouTube and email the link of their video email@example.comÂ prior to January 23, 2012 with the subject line â€œOnly inÂ BattlefieldÂ 3 Community Video Challengeâ€ From there a jury consisting of the DICEÂ BattlefieldÂ 3Â team will select a shortlist of ten videos that will be posted in a dedicated playlist to the officialÂ BattlefieldÂ YouTube channel for the community to see and talk about. From that shortlist DICE will then hand select three winners, all of whom will each win two round trip tickets to Stockholm where they will receive three night hotel accommodations, sample the sights of the Swedish capital and visit the DICE studio to meet the makers ofÂ BattlefieldÂ 3.

We love contests like this and it’s genius marketing on the part of EA to get more video content up on YouTube over the holidays but we do find it odd that they’re hosting a videoÂ related contest when the game doesn’t even include a battle recorder yet…
