Bethesda took the stage at E3 tonight and after just a few minutes of giving thanks to its employees and fans the team jumped right into the action. The company has been teasing details about the upcoming DOOM reboot for weeks and the time for the real reveal has finally arrived. Prepare for gore, demons, and big f-ing guns.

The team behind DOOM didn't waste any time with a cinematic trailer and instead presented five minutes of actual gameplay footage. From the moment the first-person helmet is lowered over the protagonist's head, the world feels exactly like the DOOM that so many gamers fell in with with decades ago.

Two gameplay trailers debuted for the single-player campaign and both highlighted tons of demons and guns. The arsenal of weapons looks like it will make enough references to the classic DOOM games (with shotguns and chainsaws), while also evolving to stand out in the new generation of shooters.

The trailers pack in a ton of noteworthy action. One of the coolest highlights is the ability to melee finish off an enemy after you lower their shields and get up close. The finishers are brutal and look like they would fit right at home in Mortal Kombat X (in a good way).

Gamers with an eye for hardware will also recognize lots of impressive firepower in the trailers. Here is a quick breakdown of the gear we spotted:

  • Shotgun
  • Super
  • Plasma Rifle
  • Heavy Assault Rifle
  • Chainsaw
  • Rocket Launcher

In case the extended cut gets removed, here's the official sizzler reel from Bethesda, as well. It's not quite seven minutes of gameplay, but it still gets the point across...
