Dust 514 Beta Details

Those itching to try out two of 2012's most anticipated shooters may just get their chance. Ubisoft and CCP have revealed details on the betas for their respective shooters, Far Cry 3 and Dust 514.

PS3 owners can register for the DUST 514 beta through the game's website. However, registration does not necessarily mean everyone will be accepted. The closed beta begins next week for those who attended EVE Fanfest in addition to select EVE Online players.

While the beta will open up to new registrants throughout the summer, sign-ups are already open. Interested parties can register here - all that's needed on the user's end is a valid email address.

PS3 and Xbox 360 owners can also look forward to a Far Cry 3 beta during the summer; though it'll be less of a game of chance to participate - assuming they have an extra $60 to spare.

In order to gain access to the Far Cry 3 beta, players must have purchased a copy of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier from GameStop, or received an access code through media giveaways (i.e. Twitter contests). Ubisoft employed a similar tactic with the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier beta, giving Splinter Cell: Conviction owners access to the beta while also providing codes as a pre-order bonus - and through various media outlets. Another option gives players the ability to enter to win through Facebook, all they have to do is "like" the beta page.

As a smart move on Ubisoft's part, the console gamers choose to purchase Future Soldier on does not determine which console the play the beta on. If say, one were to purchase the game on the Xbox 360, this person has the option of sticking with their current platform or playing the beta on the PS3. Unfortunately, the beta will only be open to PS3 and Xbox 360 owners, so PC gamers will be missing out.

Footage of Far Cry 3 multiplayer surfaced just last month, and despite appearing similar to other shooters, the multiplayer looks very fun. As for DUST 514, we haven't seen much in the way of gameplay, but it's going to be an ambitious project, and we can't wait to see how both games turn out. Looks like we'll have to wait for the betas (or E3) to see how they're coming along.

Far Cry 3 releases September 4th, 2012 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, whereas PS3 owners can expect Dust 514 to launch sometime during 2012.
