The Disney Classic Games Collection will officially bring the Super Nintendo version of Disney's Aladdin as well as Disney's Jungle Book platformer to modern consoles. This follow up to Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King adds in that memorable port from 1993, three different ports of Disney's The Jungle Book, and a variety of additional content.

Similar to the original Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King, players will be able to jump back into some of the most iconic 90s platforming games with this collection. Though the original collection met with success, it was notably missing the Super Nintendo version of Disney's Aladdin. Despite the different versions of the games offering the same gameplay, each one had different level design depending on the previous consoles capabilities.

The Disney Classic Games Collection will feature the classic platformers Disney's Aladdin, Disney's The Lion King, and Disney's The Jungle Book. This includes ports of the Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Sega MegaDrive versions of these classic platformers. As with the previous game, there remains the rewind feature that allows players to recover from any mistake that proved fatal in the original games. The ports also allow players to jump into any part of each game they wish. On top of the gameplay, there will also be concept art and 16-bit versions of the memorable songs from these franchises within the collection.

Though there are three titles listed, the collection actually includes the following games:

  • Disney’s Aladdin: SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Sega MegaDrive
  • Disney’s Aladdin: Final Cut: Sega Mega Drive
  • Disney’s Aladdin: Demo Version: Sega Mega Drive
  • Disney’s Aladdin: Japanese Version: Sega Mega Drive
  • Disney's The Lion King: SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Sega MegaDrive
  • Disney's The Lion King: Japanese Version: Sega Mega Drive
  • Disney's The Jungle Book: SNES, Game Boy, Sega Mega Drive

The 2019 Disney Classic Games brought back some of the most memorable licensed platformers and took them a step further. That missing Super Nintendo port of Disney's Aladdin made that collection feel incomplete, however. There was a lot to like about the forgiving rewind function but this announcement really shows what that previous collection could have been.

Then again, had it not been for the success of that previous title, players wouldn't have the upcoming Disney Classic Games Collection to look forward to. Though Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King was recently discounted, it was well-received by critics and clearly sold enough to inspire this followup. Fortunately for fans of these platformers, these games have been revived once again and are much more accessible than before.

Disney Classic Games Collection will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in the Fall of 2021.
