Having been accustomed to a constant stream of rehashes and sequels that seem to dominate the gaming industry, it's refreshing when a new series comes along that boasts something unique - in this case, its art style. Dishonored is one such game. Taking control of Corvo, players will head out in search of vengeance after being framed for the assassination of the Empress. Looking as if it will blend ideas from titles like Deus Ex, Thief and BioShock to name a few, Arkane Studios' newest title is an incredibly intriguing one.

As details have begun to trickle in regarding the title, gamers have been left wanting more. From the game's steampunk aesthetic and its immersive, living world to its gadget-based stealth gameplay, it's no surprise that gamers have been yearning to get a better look at the game's world and its inhabitants.

Luckily for gamers, Bethesda has released a new set of screenshots for Arkane Studios' upcoming title which give a much better look at the bleak city of Dunwall as well as those who would call it home.

If the first screenshot from Dishonored was enough to generate excitement amongst gamers, this new batch doesn't disappoint. While the world of Dishonored surely draws upon aspects of the steampunk aesthetic, it still retains a healthy dose of that of a dystopian future. From the casually conversing aristocrats outside of some sort of high-tech vehicle, to the lone guard searching a run-down street, there's no denying that the art behind the game's world and characters is truly beautiful and feels unique in a landscape of bland carbon-copies.

The newest Dishonored screenshots also show off some interesting bits of gameplay. As a game that places its focus on remaining stealthy, it's no surprise that the hand-to-hand combat will be hectic and intense. Judging by the screenshots, gamers who opt to take a more frontal approach to their operations will be treated to some very visceral sequences, accentuating the concept of giving gamers many different ways to approach any given situation.

Alongside this, another of the new screenshots also shows off the pack of rats that the player will be able to summon with their supernatural powers. Rather than simply being a few measly vermin, it's great to see that the player's powers will be as strong as they are interesting. Even if a pack of rats may not seem exciting at first glance, the idea of controlling a small horde of rodents to distract, tamper and possibly even attack any who oppose you could make for some exciting gameplay opportunities.

While it has changed quite a lot since gamers began speculation following its announcement, Dishonored has quickly grown into one of the most interesting titles to be announced this year. Even though details regarding it are still quite sparse, Arkane Studios and Bethesda Softworks have proven that Dishonored is a title that will be worth following in the coming months.

What are your thoughts on the newest screenshots? What aspect of Dishonored's unique world are you most excited about?
