Bethesda has announced a brand new game they will be publishing, Dishonored, which will be developed by Arkane Studios for release in 2012. You will recognize Arkane Studios as a development house that created Dark Messiah of Might & Magic and their contributions to BioShock 2. Dishonored is described as a first person action game with stealth elements, but we know nothing more at the moment.

Game Informer will be releasing a cover story for Dishonored in their August issue, which will be available July 15. Dishonored will be undergoing the direction of Raphael Colantonio (lead designer for Arx Fatalis) and Harvey Smith (lead designer for the original Deus Ex).

Earlier in June, Bethesda's parent company, Zenimax, filed trademarks for Dishonored, which gave rise to a lot of industry speculation. The timing of the trademark hinted that Arkane may be very early in the development process, but if they have a cover story in Game Informer, there may be a lot more to the project than we know. Until then, it's time for some speculation!

The cover gives a bit of detail into the kind of game Dishonored could be made out to be. A figure grasping a robot head in a post-modern type of environment that is filled with robots and rats. Hmm... maybe it's a cyberpunk-set game with a Yakuza protagonist who is some kind of vigilante against robots? Probably not, but that sounds pretty cool. Or what about a future where robots and humans have achieved a harmony and the protagonist has been wronged by a robot Yakuza clan? That sounds even better.

Obviously, more information is what we're all craving and we're all just going to have to until July 15 when the Game Informer with all the details hits the streets and the details will start making themselves known. We're also happy to see a new IP come out these days!

Game Rant will be bringing you information on Dishonored as it flows in. Until then, chime in on the comments below with your own suggestions regarding what the game is. You can also keep occupied by drooling over the E3 2011 trailer for Skyrim, Bethesda's upcoming RPG or reading about some fresh details for Skyrim regarding character creation and the armor system.

Dishonored will be releasing in 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
