No PvP for ‘Diablo 3′ at Launch

No PvP for Diablo 3 at Launch

With every passing month comes some new news about Diablo 3, though it’s never about a solid release date or new features being added. No, it’s usually about features that are being removed or that the game is delayed over and over. Keeping to that, Blizzard has announced that the PvP component to Diablo 3 will be temporarily removed from the game, and will not be available at launch.

According to Blizzard, PvP wasn’t turing out the way the wanted and instead of delaying the game further, they decided to yank it out completely. Fans of multiplayer shouldn’t freakout, because Blizzard assures gamers that the PvP mode will be included at a later date when it meets their standards of quality.

This isn’t the only item that’s been removed from Diablo 3. Earlier this year it was announced that both companion pets and reforging scrolls won’t make it into the game a launch either. This was again due to these components not meeting the high standards the Blizzard devs set for their work, and Blizzard trying to balance features vs. the impatience of fans to play the game. While some eager Diablo players won’t enjoy hearing the news about Blizzard announcing another feature being pulled from the game, it’s mostly a good thing in this exceptional circumstance.

What it means is that Blizzard has a solid Diablo 3 release date and are making big moves in order to make that date. And we know that when these features are completed, they’re going to be good. As the old saying goes, “good things come to those who wait.”

The Director of Diablo 3, Jay Wilson, stated last month that the full game isn’t in good shape, but great shape, hinting that a final version is close to completion. Blizzard is the shining example of how to build a quality video game and gamers shouldn’t get discouraged when they hear news like this. W

Diablo 3 is expected to release between April and June of 2012, for PC, MAC and unconfirmed for home consoles.

  1. YES. IM OKAY WITH THIS.

  2. no pvp??? your nuts

    • what does PvP have to do with my nuts?

    • you’re*

  3. Sign up for a year of WoW.
    Blizzard stops publishing updates.
    Stoked for diablo 3.
Blizzard pulls all the features out.

    Anyone else getting buyer’s remorse?

    • you’re the idiot the bought a year subscription into a dead game…

      • Dead game? 10 million subscribers beg to differ. While I don’t play as much as I used to, it is still better then SWTOR. I played that for about a month and got bored of it. Whether you choose to believe it or not, WoW is still the standard

  4. This really isn’t a big deal as Diablo has always been more geared towards PVE and most people (I wouls think) are going to be buying this for the single player/multiplayer PVE experience. I know I will be. Bring it Blizzard let’s get to the part where I buy what you’re selling.

    • Why do people keep saying this? Diablo has always been about PvP. The whole point of PvE in Diablo 1 was to acquire godly items so that you could duel or pk other players. I even remember after killing another player you got to steal all their stuff, including the gear they were wearing.

  5. So no PVP and no offline mode? So happy I’m not getting this.

  6. Awesome i am playing at private server rigt now works fine http://www.getdiablo3download.com butt still wants a beta key :)

  7. I have no interest in the PvP aspect of Diablo 3. There’s going to be so many immature raging gamers, that it really takes the fun out of it.
I had my fun with Guild Wars PvP for awhile, which was very well balanced for the most part, yet grew tired of the younger generation mouthing off.

Matters would be much worse if balance weren’t integrated well into Diablo 3. Think about it: you play a few hours a week, versus Hillbilly Harry who plays non-stop for countless hours.
You acquire modest items from your casual PvE play-through, versus Hillbilly Harry who was acquired godlike items.
Hopefully PvP match ups would be designed with balance in mind: keep the casual players together and the Hillbilly Harrys in another corner.

PvE is fine for me, the old fashioned single player game or co-op is more my leisurely style.

I’m not even going to hazard a guess as to release date. Blizzard has been notorious for their baiting comments throughout the years.
Path of Exile / Torchlight 2 / Grim Dawn are just a few more of these fun filled point and clickers coming our way…at some point.

  8. Whoop whoop whoop! Yay diablo3!

Cant wait to play again, just not sure how many weeks / months to take off work.

  9. Loved Diablo1. Loved Diablo2. Never played pvp I’m fine with out it. I’ve already waited so long for this game. Not really wanting to have to wait much longer. I had 3 kids and got married waiting for this game. Bring it out let us all have fun. Then bring the patches and the pvp will be there. In all I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE GAME!!!!!!!! Peace out all :)

  10. After all this time and they pull pets. Now they are dropping pvp. People wonder why WoW went down the crapper. Diablo 3 is right behind it and it hasnt even been released yet. Good job Blizzard.

    • What the **** is with all the haters ranting on about how the features have been removed, they are not Dropping these features all together they have been..”Delayed” meaning u will get to play the game much sooner with just a few elements removed, and who would just jump into PVP straight away anyway, pvp will be far more engrossing once u have actually played elements of the campaign and actually have items that make the combat more than running hitting each other with like a spiked club and a god damned rusty sword, in ur leather armor for like hours on end, i myself am not one bit phased by these elements being delayed it just means there’s more to look forward to once u realize how awesome the main element of the game is

    • I dont even play wow I know it hasn’t gone down the crapper
