To many, Blizzcon remains the one time of the year that fans can play Diablo 3 - or simply enjoy the videos and announcements from afar.

This year is already delivering - especially in the form of a new 'Demon Hunter' trailer.

It's been a decade since Diablo 2 was released, but anyone who has any serious PC gamer friends will know that there are still millions of people purchasing the game - and playing it online. For these players, the wait for Diablo 3 is already bordering on torture, a sensation that any fan of Starcraft can sympathize with.

While its always a bad thing for a developer to delay a game, Blizzard is doing no such thing. The team may just be one of the most committed development studios - when it comes to perfecting and polishing a product before it is released. And as we have learned with Starcraft II, the wait is usually more than worth it.

So for those of you who aren't able to attend the convention in person, allow us to offer up one of the best parts of Blizzcon's opening ceremonies - an announcement trailer for the new playable class, Demon Hunter. A warning for anyone who already has trouble waiting for Diablo 3's 2011 release date, this definitely won't help:

Somewhere in the world, there is a very lucky team of people for whom "going to the office" consists of putting these types of cinematic trailers together. I'm seriously reconsidering Bobby Kotick's notion of selling Blizzard's cinematics as entire movies. It's already obvious that Blizzard aims to exceed expectations with their cinematics, but this will almost certainly have fans eagerly awaiting the next look at a playable class.

The Demon Hunter seems to be just that - a crossbow-wielding hunter of evil, determined to spend existence fighting at every opportunity. While 'Demon Hunter' may not be one of the possible classes we predicted, Blizzard's decision is probably for the best. So while a fantastic announcement trailer is a good thing, this one is a mixed blessing. For those who played Diablo 2, or those of you who want to know what all the fuss is about, the wait is already excruciating, and this just teases even more.

Hopefully the pleasures of Starcraft II have proven that the longer we wait, the more we'll be rewarded. Yeah, right.
