When Capcom premiered it's trailer for the latest Devil May Cry game on the opening day of the Tokyo Game Show, the fan response has been less than spectacular. Hideki Kamiya, the creator of the first Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, took to his twitter account to voice his opinion. Although Kamiya is no longer with Capcom, they still own the creative rights to the character.

Kamiya makes his thoughts clear in a number of loosely translated tweets from the past few days:

"Whatever. RT @Solivagant@PG_kamiya #DmC, by Ninja Theory? Do you think they will "evolve" the action game from your Bayonetta standard?"

"Thanx! RT @Abriael @PG_kamiya you have my full sympathy for having the character you created warped in the barbaric way. The original Dante"

"But for me,Dante is the only one, the original one. RT @alessandro_r2@PG_kamiya I think the "problem" with the new Dante is: It's NOT Dante"

"I've been sad since Dante left me. RT @nss_13_ @PG_kamiya It's sad to see what you started turn this way"

"Nothing...as usual... RT @darthdome@PG_kamiya What do you think A new dante in DMC5"

In this next sequence of tweets Kamiya directly addresses fans and everyone else saying that he is no fan of the new Dante.

"Hello all foreign fans. Recently I got lots of comments like "Dante has changed", and someone said I was not too fond of newest Dante."

"But it's not true."

" "Dante has changed"...that's right. But from my point of view Dante has changed every time the sequel came out,"

"and he was always different from whom I created first."

"So why don't you wait and see how their new trial will be same as usual...? (sorry about my poor English )"

So there you have it. While Kamiya isn't really a fan of this latest version of Dante, it seems that he has never cared for the direction that Dante has been going in ever since the first Devil May Cry.

I hate to say, but I may have to agree with the Mr. Kamiya and the fans on this calling. If Ninja Theory is gonna revamp the characters total appearance and interrupt the continuity of the story then why not just create a whole new game altogether.

I don't want to speak too fast though, remember, Capcom also made drastic changes to a lil' series known as Resident Evil, and Resident Evil 4 has managed to become the favorite horror title of all time for many, including me. In the end I think that we should all just wait for more than just one trailer, before we totally dismiss the upcoming Devil May Cry title.

So how do you guys feel about newest incarnation of Dante?

Currently there is no release information set for Devil May Cry.
