Eight years of waiting for one of the most anticipated games in recent memory will finally pay off this Summer when Deus Ex: Human Revolution releases internationally.

That's right, on August 23rd, the third title in a very interesting series of first-person shooters will be coming for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in North America. The UK will see the game shortly thereafter on August 26th.

You might recall that Human Revolution was originally scheduled to be released at the end of this month - until the infamous Square Enix delay was imposed upon the game. The release date has been purely speculative since then, until Eidos Montreal officially, and surprisingly, confirmed the date yesterday. While coverage has not been sparse, there still hasn't been an abundance of news on the title - despite its apparent impending release. This date does give Edios and Square Enix plenty of time to put the finishing touches on the game in June - ahead of E3.

If you have not been keeping up with Deus Ex: Human Revolution because you were turned off by Invisible War, or maybe you've just never experienced the world of Deus Ex, both the gameplay trailer and the stunning screenshots might give you a different perspective on this continuation of the series. If these persuade you, check out the details for preordering the game, either the standard or "Augmented Edition."

Now that Human Revolution has a firm release date, fans can start anticipating an influx of news over the next five months. While the long wait was inevitable, the high profile releases that have crowded early 2011 might have taken some of the steam(punk) from the Deus Ex sails. Hopefully Square Enix can kick the marketing into action - to give what should be a triple-A title the attention it deserves.

Now that the date is set, do you plan on rushing out to preorder, or will you wait to see some more details this summer?
