It seems like only yesterday that the Mac platform was being left out of the loop from most high profile video game releases. However, since Steam came to the platform many more PC titles have became available for Mac users. The latest in high profile releases: Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Edios Montreal's crticially acclaimed and highly profitable action-RPG hybrid will be coming to Mac platforms in winter 2011/2012.

The Mac port will be handled by Feral Interactive, a Mac-centric publisher that has dipped its toes in high profile Mac releases before. Feral has worked on the Mac versions of games such as BioShock and Borderlands, giving players wary about the Mac port a reason to breathe easy.

Required specs or a finite release date have yet to be given, though Square Enix promises more details will be revealed later this year. With Deus Ex: Human Revolution set to release in Japan this October, it's possible Square might have something to reveal at this years's Tokyo Game Show, which begins this week.

There is no word yet on whether or not the Mac version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution will also come with a code for a free OnLive copy, though if it does it's probably best not to pre-order from GameStop.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was received very positive reviews around the board, and we at Game Rant loved the game, giving it a stunning review. In addition to the critical acclaim, Square Enix also announced that Deus Ex: Human Revolution has shipped over 2 million copies to date, across North America, Europe and other PAL territories. With the game releasing in Japan later this year and on Mac platforms soon, the title should bode well for Square's bottom line.

The Mac platform has seen an increase in game releases recently, and it can most likely be attributed to the release of Steam. Just about all Valve games have been ported to the platform, giving more people with a Mac a reason to try out PC gaming. While Apple's platform is still behind in terms of timely releases the continual release of high profile titles like Deus Ex: Human Revolution should help to establish Apple gaming computers as a viable gaming platform in the future.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is available now for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and will be available winter 2011/2012 for the Mac.
