While most expected Xur to be popular for his first weekend of Destiny: The Taken King, few could have predicted how popular the Agent of the Nine ended up being. It was a little consumable called the Three of Coins that ended up being one of the most talked about items during the last week of Destiny, arguably more than the launch of the King’s Fall raid.

However, with the Three of Coins getting a slight nerf from Bungie, the focus now turns to Xur’s regular inventory of exotic items, and what he might offer for week 2. Would this week give us a better understanding of how Xur works in Destiny Year 2, or would he draw out more questions? Read on to find out.

This week, players can find Xur in the hangar in Tower South. Turn right immediately after spawning in, follow the path past the Cryptarch, proceed down the set of stairs, and Xur should be to the immediate right next to the docking ships. If you reach the Vanguard Quartermaster or the Dead Orbit representative, then you have gone too far.

For armor this week, Xur has a set of familiar exotics, albeit with Year 2 defense power, and one new Taken King item. All three are solid options for their respective classes, so players who didn’t blow all their Strange Coins on exotic engram farming are recommended to pick up the armor pieces. Perhaps it’s even worth picking up multiples for Infusion fuel, especially for players who have yet to eclipse 280 in Light Level.

Xur’s exotic weapon this week is the Hawkmoon, one of the former PlayStation exclusives that have gone platform agnostic with Destiny: The Taken King. Hawkmoon has been a favorite among Destiny veterans for quite some time now, and a much sought-after exotic, so we’re sure there is plenty of happy Guardians out there.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • Ruin Wings (Titan Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Sealed Ahamkara's Grasps (Hunter DLC Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Light Beyond Nemesis (Warlock ) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Legacy Primary Weapon Engram – 31  Strange Coins
  • Hawkmoon – 23 Strange Coins
  • Three of Coins – 7 Strange Coins

Interestingly enough, though, Xur does not have a Year 2 exotic engram on offer, which puts to rest speculation he might sell an engram instead of a weapon each week. Perhaps there is a rotation between weapon and engram, or maybe last week was a fluke. Whatever the case may be, now players can know exactly what they are spending their Strange Coins on rather than praying to the RNG gods.

Which leads us to next weekend, and the speculation about what Xur might offer then. Will he return with an engram or will he have a new weapon on offer? Might he sell one of the new Year 2 exotic weapons, like Telesto or Zhalo Supercell? Head back to Game Rant next week to find out.
