Xur has returned to the Tower once again to grace the Destiny playerbase with his collection of exotic armor pieces and weapons. As with past weeks, Xur shows up on Friday morning, at the daily reset, and is open for business until the Sunday morning reset. For those who might not know, Xur offers a set of exotic armor pieces, engrams, and occasionally weapons in exchange for Strange Coins.

This week, Destiny players can find Xur tucked against the wall in the Vanguard quarters. Head directly straight after spawning into the Tower, follow the stairs down and past Eris Morn, continue through the hallway past the Crucible quartermasters, and Xur should be in the room with the long table.

For exotic armor, Xur has the An Insurmountable Skullfort helmet for Titans, the Knucklehead Radar helmet for Hunters, and the Sunbreakers gauntlets for Warlocks. All three of these exotic armor pieces should be familiar to Destiny veterans, as they are Year 1 items upgraded for Year 2. That being said, it's hard to recommend any of the armor pieces except for diehard collectors.

In each category, there are better options available, although Titans likely make it out the best with the Skullfort. Because the Skullfort offers two melee charges, the helmet can be useful for Sunbreaker Titans using Melting Point, a melee-triggered debuff that strips away an opponent's defenses and makes every hit a critical one.

For the second weekend in a row, Xur has an exotic engram on sale instead of an exotic weapon; so there goes any theories about there being a pattern to Xur's inventory. This week the engram is for gauntlets, so players hoping to get their Sealed Ahamkara's Grasps or Ruin Wings at 310 Light Level are probably going to be spending a lot of Strange Coins this weekend. Be mindful, though, that the chances of an exotic decrypting into 310 are much higher when your Light Level is above 300, but it's not guaranteed. Still, if you're on a quest to reach the max Light Level of 310, these gauntlets could get you that much closer.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • An Insurmountable Skullfort (Titan Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Knucklehead Radar (Hunter Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Claws of Ahamkara (Warlock Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Legacy Heavy Weapon Engram – 31  Strange Coins
  • Exotic Gauntlet Engram – 19 Strange Coins
  • Three of Coins – 7 Strange Coins

So, at the very least, this weekend added some new questions about Xur's potential inventory, and how it will change week-to-week in Destiny. It seems that any semblance of a pattern is out the window, and whatever he could sell truly is as random as it was before. Unfortunately, that means any players hoping to grab some new exotic weapons are now left praying to the RNG gods.

What do you hope Xur has in his inventory next week? What is the number one exotic armor piece or weapon that you want?
