It would only be fitting that, after Bungie announced plans to increase Vault Space in Destiny, Xur would show up with some useful exotic items to tickle players' fancy. Unfortunately, as we've learned time and time again, Xur loves nothing more than messing with the Destiny fan base.

Even more than that, Destiny players have learned that attempts to predict Xur's inventory will not only draw the ire of Bungie but will also force Xur to change his selection at the last minute. Lucky for us, last week's last minute switch delivered the Hard Light auto rifle, which had yet to be sold by the Agent of Nine.

So where is Xur? This week he can be found right next to the Crucible Quartermasters, dead ahead as soon as players spawn into the tower. Head down the stairs due north of the starting position and Xur should be tucked off to the immediate left at the bottom.

Xur's Exotic Selection

As far as armor is concerned, Xur doesn't have anything particularly notable, except for maybe the Obsidian Mind Warlock helmet. With the helmet, Warlocks can toss out a seemingly endless array of Nova Bombs (under the right circumstances), which come in plenty handy during dense enemy encounters. However, those who want to pick up the helmet, or the Ruin Wings gauntlets for their Titan, will need to own The Dark Below DLC. We actually would have said the Ruin Wings are worth picking up, and they still are, but the heavy ammo bug fix has made the drops a little less important. Still, players can't go wrong with a few extra rockets.

Desting Xur Selection March 27

Xur's exotic weapon is the MIDA Multi-Tool this week, a formidable scout rifle for fans of the precise single shot gun type. The MIDA Multi-Tool also comes in handy thanks to its increased agility and movement abilities, especially when trying to run through the Crota's End raid. You might not think the extra speed would be useful, but wait until dozens of Thralls are chasing you.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • Ruin Wings (Titan DLC Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Achlyophage Symbiote (Hunter Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Obsidian Mind (Warlock DLC Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • MIDA Multi-Tool (Scout Rifle) – 23 Strange Coins
  • Exotic Shard – 7 Strange Coins
  • Exotic Gauntlet Engram – 23 Motes of Light

Exotic Upgrades

At this point, exotic upgrades are only really for those players who have either taken some time away for Destiny or didn't have enough Strange Coins to pull the trigger. There's nothing Xur has not sold before, and he often repeats his selection on a regular basis. And, like this week, he even likes to sell the same exotic armor pieces as both new items and upgrades.

Destiny - Mida Multi Tool
  • Achlyophage Symbiote
  • Crest of Alpha Lupi (Hunter)
  • The Armamentarium
  • No Backup Plans
  • Skull of Dire Ahamkara
  • Apotheosis Veil
  • Bad Juju
  • The Last Word
  • Thorn
  • Invective
  • Pocket Infinity
  • Thunderlord

Not much reason to celebrate Xur's return this week, unless you're a Warlock who missed Obsidian Mind the other times around. The MIDA Multi-Tool is a solid weapon, but there are certainly better options out there, even when it comes to scout rifles. Still, it's better to have a MIDA in the Vault just in case a Crota's End team needs a fast swordbearer or someone to solo the Abyss section.
