We have the early scoop on where to find the vendor Xur and what exotic armor and weapons he has available to Destiny players for the weekend of July 29th.

It's been a fairly uneventful week for Destiny players, who are caught somewhere between the latest Rise of Iron reveal and the upcoming Gamescom PvP presentation. They know that big announcements and unveilings are just over the horizon, but for now it's all about waiting. Soon, though, the shroud of secrecy will come off, and the Destiny hype train will make its regular August visit.

As for what Destiny players have to look forward to; the rumor right now is that Bungie will confirm private matches for Rise of Iron. It's something that players, especially streamers and YouTubers, have been requesting for a while now, and the timing seems right. After all, Bungie dropped last-gen platforms just this week, and presumably that frees the developer to do some more processing and server intensive things with the game. Outside of adding more options to PvP, it's anyone's guess as to what moving into the current-gen of platforms will do for the game, outside of improving the graphics, frame rate, and animation, of course.

Perhaps moving into current-gen will also add more options for Xur, the weekend exotic armor and weapon merchant. Xur has been a mainstay of Destiny since the very beginning, and we'd love to see his role expand or change with the coming expansion. But for now he shows up right on time and delivers his exotics for all to peruse.

Speaking of, Xur has returned to Destiny once again, and he has chosen one of his more recent favorite spots to set up shop. Yes, Xur is once again in The Reef, the social space added to the game with the House of Wolves expansion.

For armor this week, Xur has the Mk 44 Stand Asides boots for Titans, the Bones of Eao boots for Hunters, and The Ram helmet for Warlocks. All three are useful exotic armor pieces, especially for PvP, but require a very specific play style to be successful. If you love shoulder charging or running Voidwalker, we would recommend the Titan boots and the Warlock helmet, whereas the Hunter boots are useful in numerous situations. Basically, if you have the coins we'd recommend buying all three items.

Xur's exotic weapon this week is the Fourth Horseman shotgun, which packs a major punch. With four barrells that fire almost simultaneously, the Fourth Horseman is great for getting up close and personal with enemies, especially bosses. Not to mention, when the Specialist modifier is turned on in a Strike playlist or the Challenge of the Elders, the shotgun becomes an essential tool.
