We have the early scoop on where to find the vendor Xur and what exotic armor and weapons he has available to Destiny players for the weekend of January 29th.

To say that the exotic vendor Xur has lost a lot of his luster as of late would be to put things mildly. Since the introduction of new exotic armor pieces and weapons with the December update, players have been working quickly to collect them all, and with last week’s exotic chest engram most completed their sets. Now Xur has become less of a thing to look forward to in Destiny, and more of a, “Hey, I guess I’ll see what Xur is selling” type situation.

Nevertheless, there are those players who still wait patiently for Xur to arrive on Friday, and for those Destiny faithful we bring our regular report. If there are those players for whom Destiny has not lost its luster, who are we to deny them.

This week, Destiny players can find Xur in the far back area of Tower South commonly referred to as the nightclub. Head to the right after spawning in, follow the path way through the Hangar, go underneath the Future War Cult advisor’s quarters, and continue on to the back until you see some couches. Xur should be tucked in the left.

For exotic armor this week, Xur has a compliment of Year 2 items including the Empyrean Bellicose helmet for Titans, the Skyburners Annex helmet for Hunters, and the Alchemist Raiment chest piece for Warlocks. All three are fine exotic pieces but not necessarily essential. Although the Bellicose should prove pretty useful during this week’s Nightfall Strike, by using the helmet’s hover ability to deliver bonus damage.

On the weapon front Xur has Thunderlord for a sale, a heavy machine gun that not only looks cool but also fits a variety of scenarios. Unfortunately, Thunderlord never got the recognition it deserved, as Gjallarhorn typically took the exotic spot in nearly every encounter.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • Empyrean Bellicose (Titan Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Skyburners Annex (Hunter Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Alchemist's Raiment (Warlock Chest Piece) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Thunderlord – 17 Strange Coins
  • Legacy Chest Piece Engram – 29  Strange Coins
  • Three of Coins – 7 Strange Coins

While it’s hard to complain about a set of three Year 2 items for sale, there’s no doubt many players will look at Xur’s inventory and move on by. There really isn’t much he can offer at this point that players don’t already have or aren’t terribly interested in buying.

What items do you hope Xur sells next week? Is it about time that Bungie add new exotics to the loot pool?
