We have the early scoop on where to find the vendor Xur and what exotic armor and weapons he has available to Destiny players for the weekend of January 15th.

Xur is back in the Destiny world for the weekend, and as usual he has brought along his collection of exotic wares. However, this week, more than most weeks, we are happy to report that Xur actually has some decent items on offer. So read on to find out where Xur is hiding and what exotics he has for sale.

This week Destiny players can find Xur in the Reef, a rare spot for the Agent of the Nine. In fact, the last time Xur showed up in the Reef, the door that he usually hides behind was glitched shut, and Bungie had to move him. Hopefully that doesn’t happen again this weekend.

On the exotic armor front, Xur has the Ruin Wings gauntlets for Titans, the Impossible Machines gauntlets for Warlocks, and the Celestial Nighthawk helmet for Hunters. All three are great exotic options for players, assuming they don’t already own them. So, if you can spare the Strange Coins and don’t already own the armor pieces – and assuming you have one of each Destiny class – we’d recommend all three.

This week also marks the first time since before the December update that Xur has sold an exotic engram. In this case, he has an exotic helmet engram on sale, so those players looking for The Ram or Helm of Saint-14 can try their luck this weekend. It’s also more advantageous to use an engram for exotics because they can decrypt into 310 light level items, provided the player is about 300.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • Ruin Wings (Titan Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Celestial Nighthawk (Hunter Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Impossible Machines (Warlock Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Exotic Helmet Engram – 19 Strange Coins
  • Legacy Primary Weapon Engram – 31  Strange Coins
  • Three of Coins – 7 Strange Coins

For weeks now gamers have been clamoring for Xur to sell an exotic engram instead of a weapon, however most hoped it would be for chest pieces not helmets. At this point, with most players already in possession of every Year 2 exotic under the sun, the focus has turned to the new items, specifically the ATS/8 Tarantella and Twilight Garrison chest pieces.

The Twilight Garrison is probably the item on most players’ lists, but this week isn’t the week. However, now that we know Xur can still sell engrams, anything is possible.

What do you hope Xur sells in the upcoming weeks? Will he ever sell some of the other new Year exotics?
