After a botched weapon delivery two weeks ago, it appears that all has returned to normal for Xur in the world of Destiny. Last week, the Agent of the Nine showed up right on time, and he had an exotic weapon in tow. Granted, said weapon wasn’t exactly earth shattering, but nothing is for Destiny players these days. Well, in less you count the reveal of the Dreadnaught earlier this week.

Nevertheless, there are still plenty of Destiny players that anxiously await the return of Xur and are eager to see what exotic goodies he might have for the weekend. It’s easy to become jaded by Bungie’s game after collecting every piece of loot, but it’s important to remember that some are still in the middle of that “quest for everything.”

This week, players can find Xur in The Reef, in the only spot that Bungie has cordoned off for the Agent of the Nine. In case anyone doesn’t know the spot, head down the stairs to the right from spawn, and Xur is behind the door directly in front of you. Typically this door is locked shut, but every few weekends it unlocks for Xur.

Xur's Exotic Armor & Weapon Selection

For his exotic armor selection, Xur has some old standards on offer, including the Knucklehead Radar for Hunters and the Claws of Ahamkara for Warlocks. If you’re the type of Warlock who loves to shotgun melee (and who doesn’t?), then the Claws are a decent exotic option, but few use them in PvP when there are stronger options like The Ram helmet. And while the Knucklehead Radar’s ‘Sensor Pack’ ability, which keeps a player’s radar actively even while they are aiming down the sights, is useful, it’s not that useful.

Xur’s exotic weapon this week is the Suros Regime, an exotic auto rifle with deadly accuracy but a slow rate of fire. Normally we would say skip the Suros since auto rifles are practically useless post-nerf, but Destiny Update 2.0 is supposed to help increase the auto rifle class’ viability. So, it might be worth picking the gun up and keeping it tucked in your vault until we know how strong auto rifles will be in a 2.0 world.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • No Backup Plans (Titan Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Knucklehead Radar (Hunter Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Claws of Ahamkara (Warlock DLC Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • SUROS Regime (Auto Rifle) – 23 Strange Coins
  • Exotic Shard – 7 Strange Coins
  • Exotic Helmet Engram – 23 Motes of Light

All told, the exotic selection is mostly forgettable, but the exotic helmet engram is sure to catch some player’s attention. It might take a few, or a few dozen, attempts, but the engram can turn into The Ram or any of the other top tier exotic helmets out there. Might be worth a try if you can spare the Orbs of Light.

What do you hope Xur sells next week? Is there anything he could sell that would get you legitimately excited?
