Video game developer Bungie officially reveals some of the PlayStation 4 exclusive content to release on the platform with Destiny's Rise of Iron expansion.

As developers did with Destiny's The Taken King expansion, Activision and Bungie will continue to make some content in the science fiction action-RPG exclusive to the PlayStation platform with the forthcoming Rise of Iron DLC. With this being the case, Sony recently revealed details about the materials specific to the PS4 (the next add-on is skipping last generation consoles, so Rise of Iron won't have anything for PS3), declaring that the exclusives are going to be a quest, a ship, and a Crucible map.

The PS4-exclusive quest for Destiny's Rise of Iron is entitled "Show of Strength." As it happens, Guardians will be receiving the specific quest from a brand new character called Tyra Karn, who also happens to be the source for the upcoming expansion's eight new artifacts to be used by any class. The quest's description reads, "While you serve the Vanguard in the Plaguelands, I wonder if you’d be so kind as to help me understand the more brutal aspects of the Devil Splicers' brand of worship."

Found in the image below, Destiny's ship will be a quest reward in Rise of Iron's line of PS4-exclusive content, and it is called Timeless Tereshkova. Interestingly enough, it appears to be Bungie providing fans with a different take on a New Monarchy faction ship "Comitatus" from The Taken King, with it having blue colors to ostensibly represent PlayStation instead of red to indicate allegiance with the Tower vendor Executor Hideo's group.

Finally, Destiny's PS4-exclusive Crucible map is named Icarus and it has been made to send Guardians flying close to the sun at the Languid Sea on Mercury. According to the arena's description, it is set up to be a "mid-sized PvP map compatible with any 6v6 game mode." Icarus is laid out with an outer area encircling an inner chamber, with the perimeter offering a mix of long sightlines in corridors for snipers and close-range combat, while the interior space is sure to have a high frequency of Guardians clashing on a near-regular basis.

As previously announced by Bungie a couple of months ago, all of the PlayStation content will remain as exclusives for a year up until fall 2017. Taking this into consideration, Xbox One fans will have to make do without the "Show of Strength" quest, Timeless Tereshkova ship, and Icarus map for the Crucible for quite some time.

While all of these PlayStation 4 exclusives for Destiny's Rise of Iron may please some Guardians on the Sony console, others might be wondering why Bungie isn't offering PS4 players a unique strike or gun as the studio has done in the past with The Taken King's Echo Chamber and Jade Rabbit Scout Rifle. One reason for the developer simply sticking with the quest, ship, and Crucible map and excluding the strike and weapon this time around could be due to the majority of Bungie being too busy with the sequel's development, but that remains to be seen.

Destiny's Rise of Iron expansion is set to release on September 20, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
