Destiny PS4 Exclusive Gear Showcase

At E3 2014 last week, Sony mentioned PlayStation exclusive content or early access over and over in relation to many upcoming games releasing on their platforms. The company wants to make sure that console gamers who spend their money on PlayStation products have a distinct advantage over Xbox users in the coming year. One of the many non-PlayStation exclusive games that offers other incentives to play on the PS3 or PS4 is Activision and Bungie's Destiny. Sony users were able to participate in a PlayStation exclusive alpha last weekend and the perks are set to continue in other ways once the game launches...

During last week's Sony PlayStation presentation, VP of Publishing and Developer Relations Adam Boyes made a promise that PlayStation owners would receive a ton of exclusive Destiny content. The reveal detailed the alpha and beta access, but didn't offer much insight on in-game differences once the final product ships. A new post on the PlayStation Blog lays out the details and explains exactly what will be different for PS3 and PS4 gamers when it comes to Bungie's next shooter.

The exclusive content will include access to unique co-op and competitive maps, special weapons, new gear, and ships. Take a look at the substantial amount of PS-exclusive loot below...

The most exciting exclusive content are the two unique maps. The Dust Palace Strike is a three-player cooperative Strike that can be tackled with friends. Players track an extraction team through an ancient skyscraper buried in the dunes of Mars. The Exodus Blue competitive multiplayer map is described as a mid-sized Crucible arena designed with Control and Skirmish game modes in mind.

The Exodus Blue, a long-dead vessel, once brought hope and humanity to worlds beyond Earth. Here, Guardians challenge one another, forging a new hope and future in the fires of the Crucible.

In addition to the maps, there's also a pile of exclusive gear. PlayStation users have access to three exclusive ships: the Aurora Wake, Crypt Hammer, and Outrageous Fortune. Exclusive weapons include the Monte Carlo assault rifle, Hawkmoon hand cannon, and special armor for the Warlock, Titan, and and Hunter classes.

The exclusivity goes a step further in Japan, where the game is actually only available on PlayStation consoles. Destiny arrives in Japan on September 11, which is only a week after the Xbox One launches in the country. It's unclear at this point if and when Japanese gamers will have the opportunity to play the game on a Microsoft console.

How much of a selling point do you think the PS4 exclusive items are? Are they enough to make you play Destiny on PS3 or PS4 instead of a Microsoft console? Let us know in the comments.
