Amid all the excitement of new titles being announced at E3 2014, it's worth taking a moment to appreciate the latest trailers for games that were unveiled some time ago. Among these is Bungie's ambitious open-world sci-fi shooter Destiny, which is getting a PS4 bundle release that comes with a "glacier white" 500GB PS4, a DualShock 4 controller and a 30-day PlayStation Plus subscription.

We hope to bring you more details about Destiny as E3 2014 continues, but for now you should definitely watch the 'New Beginnings' E3 2014 trailer for the game, which is partially narrated by Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage. The actor voices an AI companion called Ghost, who is responsibly for seeking out the Guardians of Earth and guiding them in their quest to battle the oncoming forces that threaten to destroy the remainder of human civilization.

Much of the trailer is spent recapping what we already know about Destiny's backstory: a mysterious entity known as 'the Traveller' arrived on Earth and heralded a golden age of technological advancement and space exploration. The Traveller was followed to our fair planet, however, by an equally mysterious enemy that manifests itself as pure darkness - a kind of cosmic metaphor. Even for those who are already familiar with the story, however, the trailer is worth watching for a glimpse of the Guardians without their ubiquitous helmets. And for Dinklage, of course.

This isn't the first time we've heard Dinklage as Ghost; the character also appeared in a Destiny gameplay demo last summer, lighting the way for a group of players as they made their way through a building. This new trailer offers a closer look at him: a floating robot that resembles a more somber version of Portal 2's Wheatley (though Ghost has his own brand of snark).

The trailer also addresses the somewhat awkward manner of integrating multiplayer gameplay into a narrative where each player is supposedly the 'Chosen One' who is destined to save Earth from its enemies. When Ghost addresses "you," he clarifies it as being a plural that refers to any and all Guardians who may be in the vicinity. It might make individual players feel a bit less special, but it's always good to have a few back-up Chosen Ones in case the first one dies.

Are you still hyped for Destiny, or has Bungie's shooter been overshadowed by some of the other announcements at E3 2014?

Destiny will be released on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 9th, 2014.
