As fans continue experiencing the new content within Destiny 2 Lightfall and corresponding Season of Defiance, one legacy issue relating to an enemy damage bug has seemingly gotten worse. Upon the launch of Lightfall, Bungie released the accompanying patch notes, bringing about a huge amount of changes and tweaks to Destiny 2. However, one of the more controversial pieces to the update was the spike in difficulty, making the content and activities more difficult thanks to power caps, preventing players from overleveling to overwhelm enemies.

On top of the difficulty tweaks, players also faced a new Power Level climb within Lightfall, starting off at 1600 and going to 1810. Naturally, players would likely be at a disadvantage early on as they continued to acquire better gear, leaving them vulnerable to tougher opponents. However, certain enemies have seemingly proven to be downright menacing like Threshers, Cabal Psions, and more once thought to be fodder. At further examination, it seems the longstanding framerate damage bug has reared its head once more.

The talk online inside of places like Twitter and the Destiny 2 subReddit has centered around the framerate bug, which is actually an issue that predates the Lightfall expansion by a few years at the least. Essentially, this bug scales the damage of certain Destiny 2 enemies to the player's framerate, making them hit harder against players with 60FPS versus those with 30FPS. It's an issue that fans have been asking to be fixed for a while, though it has become more prominent in Lightfall as the Cabal public event on Neomuna has turned into a chore thanks to the flying Thresher one shotting players often.

However, concern has turned to the Root of Nightmares, the latest Lightfall raid launching this coming weekend on March 10 as fans worry that this damage issue could put a damper on the World First title race. It has led people to wonder how widespread this issue actually is, and unfortunately, Bungie has largely remained silent on the issue to this point. It's clear that a fix isn't going to arrive prior to the race, so it'll be interesting to see how difficult the raid becomes due to the increase in difficulty as well as the frame rate damage bug.

While the damage bug will continue to exist for the time being, Bungie has been busy getting the game ready to ensure a fair and balanced race ahead of the Root of Nightmares launch. Bungie has already disabled some integration features like the API to reduce an increase in login issues. In addition, a couple of exotics have also been disabled due to damage related bugs, making them hit much harder than Bungie anticipated.

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
