E3 2012 is right around the corner and an influx of games are pushing out their last promos before the big show. Today we bring you a trailer for Defiance, the SyFy television tie-in game; Spec Ops: The Line; and Dark Souls, which has DLC that gamers won’t want to miss out on.
Ever hear of a video game tying in with a television series? Nope? Now the opportunity has presented itself with Defiance. The game has an interesting premise, but it isn’t the story that is unique, it’s the concept of a TV series coinciding with a video game. It is said these two will “change and evolved together.” The first look caught our interest, and now Trion Worlds has brought one more video before E3 to peak our attention.
Taking place in the near distant future, in Defiance players will witness falling shipwreck debris as Earth is ravaged be massive “Arkfall” events that transform the world. Battle to survive against aliens who land on Earth and then sit back and enjoy the live-action show on a weekly basis. Trion is calling it the future of transmedia entertainment. Check it out below:
Defiance will be out in April 2013 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Craving some Spec Ops: The Line? With the release date so close, the savage post-apocalyptic dystopia of Dubai can almost be felt. Briskly walking into battle with such a stone cold look in their eyes, who wouldn’t want to follow Captain Walker to the promise land of victory? We were somewhat impressed during our first hands on preview of the game, and this quick cut, action packed trailer gives it a good justification of what to expect. Watch the one-minute TV spot:
Spec Ops: The Line releases for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on June 26, 2012.

Wait, so let me get this straight, one week everyone can log in and play the game Defiance, I am guessing they will have missions or things to try to do, and depending on the result of that, or the choices the players make, the episode of it we watch will represent the changes brought on by the events in the game??? If that’s how it’ll be, that definitely sounds interesting as long as the different outcomes from the game are big enough to really notice and it’s not just some silly little things they might refer to on the show…
So I tried Spec Ops: The Line demo, and… yah, the game blows… They have this “vaulting” feature but it’s not like you can use it creatively because they tell you exactly what you can vault over and what you magically can’t. The level design is just corridors disguised with wreckage and invisible walls to keep you in line. Enemies magically always appear when there are convenient waist-high walls and boxes to use as cover, pretty typical of the modern third-person shooter unfortunately, but so stupid… And I still don’t know of any military that will send in 3 guys to do a mission. Why is 3 people the standard “team” in games?? Even a fireteam is four people… And the whole sliding down a cable with your hands thing is soo freakin’ stupid. I really want one of these developers to try that one day. Get the paramedics ready…
Overall, it’s the same old crap, nothing new and nothing exciting… I’ve already deleted it from my Steam…
