Even the smallest crossovers in gaming can be fun for fans of multiple franchises, and that's because there's something special about seeing two universes come together for even the smallest of easter eggs. The hero of Dead Space, Isaac Clarke, is no stranger to crossing over into other games, he was playable in both Skate 3 and Dante's Inferno, so it's not surprising in the least to learn that there will be crossover content making its way into the upcoming and highly anticipated Dead Space 3.

This bonus content will appear in the form of the highly coveted N7 armor that fans of the Mass Effect series will instantly recognize. Fans looking to score some of this virtual swag won't just be handed the armor, though. Instead, they'll have to prove their loyalty to BioWare's space-focused RPG by having a Mass Effect 3 save file on their platform of choice, and then they'll have to play the full Dead Space 3 game in order to suit Clarke up as a high ranking member of the Systems Alliance military.

As the official Dead Space 3 site puts it:

  • Play Mass Effect 3 and make sure you have a save file.
  • Purchase and play the full game of Dead Space 3.
  • Equip N7 armor and look awesome!

This isn't the first time the coveted N7 armor has ventured into other games as bonus content, and — given the franchise's immense popularity — it certainly won't be the last. Final Fantasy 13-2 even had N7 costumes that were made available via paid DLC, so the attire's infamy is unquestionable at this point. Regardless, it's a neat little bonus for fans of the Electronic Arts series, and it goes to show that it's rarely a bad idea to reward loyal costumers for their fandom.

Dead Space 3 launches on February 5th for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
