Capcom has just announced that Dead Rising 2: Case West will be downloadable exclusively on Xbox Live starting on December 27th, four months after the release of the original game. Much like Case Zero, this is a supplementary episode to complete the story of Dead Rising 2. Case West will include not only an extra few hours of gameplay, but also co-op zombie slaying as either Chuck Greene or Dead Rising's original protagonist, Frank West. Keep in mind Case West is a standalone game, and doesn't require Dead Rising 2 to play.

Frank West isn't the only thing being resurrected from the original Dead Rising, as the photography gimmick mechanic will make its return as well. Taking pictures of death and gore will be much easier with a partner to watch your back. It will be interesting to see if the mechanic will have changed at all, or if they have left it alone. It was an odd design decision in the first game, but they have decided to reintroduce the feature after consciously not putting a camera in Dead Rising 2. We don't have long to wait until we can decide for ourselves if picture taking is an appropriate apocalypse pastime.

As we discussed when Case West was announced, Case Zero broke records when it hit the Marketplace back in August, and this new epilogue is expected to do the same. If it has as much content to offer as its predecessor, it will be well worth the 800 Microsoft Points that they will be charging. This is twice as much as Case Zero, so it is fair to assume that Frank West in bringing twice the content for this chapter of Dead Rising.

So who's ready to whip out the camera once again? After having already spent $65 on all the Dead Rising 2 content up til now, are you still interested in spending a little more to wrap up the story?

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero comes exclusively to the Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points on December 27th, 2010.
