Some Dance Central Tracks Revealed

Some tracks from Harmonix’s upcoming dance music game, Dance Central, have been revealed by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board.

From the Ratings Summary on the ESRB website:

“Some song lyrics contain suggestive references (e.g., ‘Did your girl’s butt,’ ‘Body is soft, makin me wanna squish her,’ ‘meet him at the door with nothin’ on,’ and ‘remove your underwear.’). Other lyrics contain language such as ‘a*s’ and references to violence (e.g., ‘You’re bound to get shot’ and ‘The interior like suicide wrist red’).”

The above quotes turn out to be lyrics from, among others, Craig Mac’s “Flava In Your Ear,” Wreckx-N-Effect’s “Rump Shaker,” and Christina Millan’s “Dip It Low.”

Though most of the game’s tracks have yet to be announced, we know that gamers will be able to jam to the following:

“Poison” by Bell Biv DeVoe
“Funkytown” by Lipps Inc
“Galang ’05“ by M.I.A.
“Hella Good” by No Doubt
“Bust a Move” by Young MC

“Drop It Like It’s Hot” by Snoop Dogg feat. Pharrell
“Rump Shaker” by Wreckx-N-Effect
“Dip It Low” by Christina Millan
“Flava in Your Ear” by Craig Mack

These songs will work very well with the game. I can already see my friends and I killing a dance routine to the tune of “Poison” and getting the party started with “Push It“. The tracklist will be an eclectic mix of upbeat tunes to keep dancer’s attention and create a great atmosphere to witness friends become dancing machines. This portion of the list shows how the game plans to cater to all, with hip-hop/rap, R&B, pop, rock, and funk represented.

The game will feature over 600 different dance moves, spanning over 90 dance routines. A mode entitled “Break it Down” will allow beginners to learn more advanced dance moves in a step-by-step process. Dance Central represents the next level of connecting with the music you love. Some songs will feature dance routines derived from their music videos. Not only will this game be fun, but it may also teach people how to dance to some of their favorite songs. The tracklist will appeal to both the young and those older.

Dance Central is, by-far, the Kinect game I am most excited about. Ever since it was announced and showcased at E3, I have been anxiously anticipating the moment I will be able to dive into the game. It is a leap forward for this genre of video game, and is arguably the best example of the possibilities of Kinect technology.

Dance Central will be available for the Xbox 360 (w/Kinect) on November 4th, 2010.
