CD Projekt Red and Bandai Namco already have a pretty strong relationship, with them having previously cooperated on The Witcher series, which no doubt led to cover star and main protagonist Geralt appearing as a guest character in Bandai Namco's own upcoming fighting game, Soul Calibur 6. This partnership is now set to continue, as it was announced earlier today that Bandai Namco will be distributing CD Projekt Red's next big open-world title, Cyberpunk 2077, throughout Europe.

“Our current distribution partnership with Bandai Namco is built on the strong foundation and trust developed during our previous projects,” said Michał Nowakowski, CD Projekt Red's Member of the Board and SVP of Business Development. “We’ve successfully cooperated on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and I’m convinced Bandai Namco will take good care of Cyberpunk 2077.”

It has also been confirmed in which European countries that Bandai Namco, or more specifically Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, will be distributing Cyberpunk 2077: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Malta, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

“CD Projekt Red has become, in just a few years, one of the leading studios in this sector with a truly innovative approach to each game and we are both proud and excited to confirm that we’ll be part of the Cyberpunk 2077 project,” said Alberto González Lorca, VP Southern Europe & Biz Dev of Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe. “We’re looking forward to working once again with CD Projekt Red and distribute another of its games in Europe, providing first-class services to one of the most eagerly awaited games of the coming years.”

That last sentence certainly isn't hyperbole. Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most hotly anticipated titles to appear at E3 earlier this year. And when the first gameplay demo was shown via a Twitch stream, it destroyed several stream records, even managing to beat out Fortnite as the most viewed stream of the day.

Unfortunately, there is still no word on an official release date for the game, with CD Projekt Red being deliberately quiet about it. However, some signs suggest that it will be released at some point in 2019. It was confirmed just a couple of weeks ago that Warner Bros. will publish the title in North America, which has aided the speculation. We do know that it is highly likely to be released on current generation platforms.

Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but the game has yet to receive an official release date.
